we . t 10n. Nevada County’ Nugget, Wednesday, February 1, 1970 Vital statistics DISSOLUTION OF MARRIAGE: in Reno, Ney, me their guests in this treat. The Len Valdez, president of the Rough and Ready Square Dancers, announces that starting February 11, the group will hoid two workshops each month, The workshops are scheduled for the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at the Gilmore School Auditorium at 8:30 p.m. Bob Jackson will be the caller, They are organizing a group for beginners alSo and will announce that dates just as soon as enough dancers can be enrolled. If you would like to join one of these groups, please call Len Valdez, 2652139, 2 ok ok It seems to me that our schools today do the most unusual and exciting things, At Ready Springs School we have splendid teachers, an excellent Parent-Teachers Club,. a forward looking Board of Trustees and a really dedicated principal. In this kind of atmosphere things like last years unique summer session, the new teen center, and individual class experiences like Mrs. Hutsinpilers class had last Friday, flourish naturally, The ’—experience was a visit by the senior primary class of Ready Springs School to Mrs, H. S. Slawsons class in Chicago Park School. About 15 students have corresponded throughout the school year and last week they enjoyed getting acquainted first hand. They spent all day together. Each of the youngsters sat with their pen pals and did regular work with them. The upper classes in the Chicago Park School cook and serve lunch once a week and Friday they included An international image A good neighbor A good friend The Welcome Wagon Hostess with The Most Famous Basket in the World® CALL Phone 273-8954 BT @ ww = By Fay M. Dunbar middle grades presented the play "Hansel and Gretel" as a special treat for them. The day was finished off with a pep rally for an upper grades basketball game, Every grade level knew and participated in the. yells and it was a really thrilling experience for Ready Springs senior primary students. Mrs, Hutsinpilar said seeing how another teacher in another _ situation works was exciting for-her also. The Rough and Ready Fire Dept. broke ground last Sunday for the new fire house on Rough’ and Ready Road. When Fire Commissioner Don_ Litchfield told me they expected it to be ready in March, I just didn't think it would be possible, These fellows don't accept the impossible. Fire Chief Al Moniz said he would bring me a picture of the ground breaking, but maybe it didn't turn out well. Commissioner Art Phelps is trying to bring their map up to date but with so many new people all of the time, this is really a continuing process, They really need those street names that we are having such a hard time getting: out of our poor busy county planning depastment. Kids are wonderful! They go on generation after generation being the same wonderful kids, but oh, my, how the parents change. In my youth parents accepted raising a family as a full time, life time job. Now its just something they do in their spare time. If our new teen center group can just get their parents to take a genuine interest (I mean the kind that takes a little work and effort, not just words and money) they can really build something satisfying. I am reminded of a comment -made by a young son to his mother. She asked if he had fun, The boy said, "Oh, it was okay." Kind of (OF BUILDING MATERIALS PABCO . — PAINT YUBA RIVER LUMBER CO. They were at Mazatlan for three weeks and then went over to Puerta Vallarto where they hoped they might see Liz Taylor and Richard Burton, but they were away. Helene says the sun was wonderful but she is glad to relax at home for awhile. ok The room mothers at Ready Springs School have planned a Valentine party for the children
on Friday. The children are allowed these parties several times a year, They are held the last few minutes of the school day ‘and are looked forward to by everyone, : Kk At their meeting last Monday night, the Fire Dept. Auxillary elected Mrs, Lolomae Tinsley to lead them in the coming year. Helping Mrs. Tinsley will be Mrs. Mary Lee as vice president and Mrs, Pat Litchfield as secretary-treasurer. The ways and means committee, who will provide the plan for the monthly money makingprogram are Mrs, Noreen Harwood, Mrs. Althea Moniz, Mrs, Jane Davison and Mrs, Pat Litchfield. Telephoning for the group will be arranged by Mrs. Loraine Long. Publicity for the Nugget will be handled by Mrs, Fay Dunbar. The evening ended with a real fun penny game, “Yek & Mrs, Robert Booker, the former Penny Nyce, was entertained with a miscellaneous McGUIRE Wanda S, McGuire shower by a party of her friends at thehome of Mrs, JoAnn Stevens last Wednesday. The young couple are making their home on Bennett St. in Grass Valley. Mr. Brooker is employed in Auburn, Cohostesses for the party were Mrs, Jan Walter, Mrs, Dorothy Johnson, and Mrs. Clara Bursill. Father Bursill's contribution to the party was a beautiful tea kettle. He sent word he wanted to be sure the next time he called at the Brookers' for tea, that Penny wouldn't have to heat the water inasauce _ pan, Guests were the Mmes, Margaret Brown, Fay Dunbar, Vicki Frazier of Gridley, Margery Freestone, June Freitas and baby ~Kathy, Mary Lee, Jackie McGuigan, Alice Perry, Glenda Winifred Schuster, Loretta Siegfried, Edith.
