To Close At Blue Cannon — WASHINGTON, D.C, ---The Post Office Department has advised Congressman Harold ‘ering closing the Blue Can-. non Post Office. oe T hesfourth-class facility -is located about three and a half miles from Emigrant: Gap and postal offitials de-: claredthat a recent investi-‘gation showed.that dueto the: close proximity of these two post offices, it is feasible, -from a postal service standpoint, to consolidate them. Services to the Blue Cannon area would be through gen-~ ‘eral delivery and lock boxes at Emigrant Gap. "From a service stand‘point, there is no need to maintain an independent post office at Blue Cannon,” Postal officials wrote Congressman Johnson, “Patrons canbe adequately served by the Emigrant Gap Post Of‘fice.
