Miners Hold On To Second
Place By Beating Oroville
The Nevada Union High School
Miners managed to keep their
_ Second place league spot Friday
. night by knocking over the Oroville Tigers 60-46,

The Nuggets dumped the
Oroville jayvees 55-46,
The Miners started the game
playing control ball and the
quarter ended with an 11-11 tie.
The slow pace continued
throughout the second quarter
andthe Tigers continued to control the boards,
The Miners came out after the
half and retumed to their usual
wide open game. Bill Penaluna
started hitting from the outside
and Randy Humphries and Brian
Frink scored in close, Control
of the boards switched to the
Miners* Dave Breuer, The new
tactics allowed the Miners to
outscore the Tigers 25-8 in the
third quarter,
In the final frame, the Miners
eased off and settled for a 19-19
scoring tie to take the win.
High men for the Miners were
Humphries and Penaluna with 16
each, Brian Frink had 10, Dave
