This is what the Bradleys plan to do for a while. They still have their home at the park. HEKEKEKEEKR OR EKER KKH SK Last Sunday I.spoke to Mr. and Mrs, Lawrence M, Steele of Yuba City about the anticipated Post Office opening date. Steele advised me that ‘the building plans have been okayed by the Post Office Dept, (I guess you are supposed to say Postal Services these days) that, weather permitting, building will begin on the 22nd of February and the completion date is set for April 21. The Steeles are as enthusiastic about our new post office as we are. They feel that the outside of the building will carry on the old mining town character which is so right for the heritage of our community, It will have an old false front facade just as the station and Old Fippin Shop across the street have. a KEKEEKEEEEER BR KKK KKK EEE A letter from our chamber of commerce, in January, concerning the unloading of so many,
school buses in the store area and the hazardous highway crossing there has finally received concrete recognition from the Highway Safety Dept. in Marysville. A crosswalk will be marked there in the near future. This will provide some improvement in the safety for the children crossing there and for the rest of us who have been taking our lives in our hands since 1967 when the matter was first introduced, The original discussions of the matter were conducted by the county chamber with representatives of the Highways Department and representatives from the local areas. At that time 14 points of concern were listed for future correction. Fortunately no one has been killed in our town in-these four years. The bad curve at Squirrel Creek crossing and the one in Penn Valley have not been so fortunate, Improvements were made at the Squirrel Creek crossing but it is still not straight enough. We live where we can hear the crashes, The victim of the latest accident at the bad corner in Penn Valley has been in the hospital now for aboutthree weeks and was still in critical condition the-last I read, ‘ HHEKEEEKEXAP BR ERK KEKE EE Mrs. Helene Hurlbut who usually spends her winter vacation in the Palm Springs desert area vacationed with the Bert Spaits in Oaxaco Mexico during January. She looks lovely and rested and has a beautiful tan, Her one complaint was lack of nice red meat. She says after their first shopping trip to the market they lived on fresh caught fish and fruit and vegetables, At the market the béefts head, complete with skin and hair, lay among the meat. She is catching up now on all the nice clean USA beef she can eat, HHRKAKEKKEER YR KKK KEK KE K€ report with the school board, Mrs. Clara Bursill is recuperating nicely but is still at Sierra Memorial Hospital and is The contents of Wapple's investigation and recommendations have not been made public. In inviting parents to send their children to the Yuba county elementary schools Ferrari's letter also said: "The Rose Bar School ‘will remain open and continue with the same educational program, children may attend the Loma Rica and Foothill Elementar schools," ; The letter added that "the educational program offered at Rose Bar School will be reviewed and evaluated." The Rose Bar School at Smartville has long been considered a marginal operation by school authorities in the Marysville Unified School District and the exodus of seven of the school's 17 pupils raises the possibility it will be closed. Parents battled in 1967 to keep the school open when no funds were included in the 196768 budget. The parents waged a determined campaign and the school did remain open.
