=. @ the Nevada County Nugget Wednesday, February 19, 1969 GRASS VALLEY MOBILE VILLAGE ‘Was so sorry to hear that Marie Robichung, who had just recovered from a broken arm, fell and broke her knee cap and tibia and was taken to Sierra Memorial Hospital by ambulance, and surgery done. Damage was so bad that the operation lasted. 3 1/2 hours and.a bone specialist from Sacramento had to be called in. Marie would appreciate cards from all her friends, Iam sue. The Sunday (monthly) breakfast was very well attended, with Frank Johnson, Jim Wilson and Fred Brown turning out some delicious pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon. Of course all the wives love this day as they don't have the cleaning uptodo, . The Spades moved in from Granada Hills this week, but the furniture has not yet ar= rived. MOUNTAIN AIR MOBILE PARK Jean and Jessie Carroll from Redwood City finally arrived with their mobilehome after several weeks of delay because of sickness, now our park is full. The Perrises have been movving all week from their former mobilehome next door to me, to their beautiful new and larger home down on the north forty, PENN VALLEY MOBILE RANCH : it i i cif A Ff, i ist . Also saw the notice in our Union paper about Lou Hartman's statement as to our mobiles being a hazard to the county and to themselves. Boy that is a joke especially when, as Mrs. Dean Lawrence stated, they have so many old homes in both Nevada City and Grass Valley, that don't just need inspection, I say they need to be torn down, as I go into many homes as Welcome Wagon host' @Ss, some homes are beautiful, good, bad and many terrible and with old obsolete lighting fixtures and frayed wires. Mr. Hartman also goes on to say that the longer the board waits the more deteriorated these mobilehomes will get. Perhaps Mr. Hartman, along with many planning boards, supervisors, city officials, etc, should actually make a real study on the construction of these homes, the kinds of septic tanks, gas connections, wiring used, and really compare with some of their homes and not only in the construction, but in taxes. So far in our research we are finding that not only do we pay our share of taxes, but many instances where the mobilehome owner on private property is paying more taxes than his counterpart living in a conventional house with the same amount of ° acreage, Veteran’s widow . receives VA . college permit DO ALL YOUR BANKING AT MLB!

That's the word from Bank of America in its latest report on the housing outlook.in California. National economic growth is slowing and this trend could become more pronounced, bank economists said. . : "This would reduce inflationary pressures and set the stage for easier monetary policy and increased availability of mortgage funds, "Under these conditions, the flow of savings into. leading institutions should hold up, providing for a growth in mortgage credit. This should insure a strong recovery during the secondhalf of 1969, Housing starts in California for the year are expected to rise above 180,000 units.” Meanwhile, housing starts in the state reached a seasonally adjusted rate. of 177,000 units in November, tops for 1968, The figure, representing actual starts as opposed to number of units authorized by building permits, is provided.exclusively by Bank of America, : Despite the strong recovery in residential construction activity. in California, demand continues. to outpace supply. Housing shortages are reported in many areas and the statewide vacancy rate is at. its lowest level in more than ten years, The very strong demand should help prevent substantial , @dowoward.. shift in.. housing starts, similar to.the 1966 experience which was partly caused by overbuilding in previous years.. In addition, mortgage lending institutions are now in a’ more liquid position than in 1966, bank. economists pointed out, further mitigating against a prolonged credit squeeze.
