Whisting good for emphysema
Emphysema is a serious lung
condition, during 1968 the U.S,
Public Health Service called it
one of our most chronic diseases. It is, however, by no
means hopeless, There:is much
that can be done for the patient
and by. the patient himself to
control it, — .
To answer questions most often asked by emphysema patients and their families, Winthrop Laboratories is making a
booklet on the subject available
free through physicians,
In it patient and.family are
assured that emphysema is not
an infection and is not malignant, Nor is it cause for the
nc to become a chronic invalid.
He should, instead, be encouraged to follow a regimen
presecribed by his physician
which is very likely to include
exercise,
There are people with emphysema out on the golf course,
or swimming, fishing, dancing.
Easy lung exercises are humming, whistling--and laughing,
the booklet states. They “help
promote better lung functions,"
