Auburn St., Grass Valley. Three near-life size crosses are placed in front of a decoratec backboard which includes the message, "Christ Died for All”. It is a reminder of the Lenten season and an invitation to Grass Valley residents to join in worship at Grace Lutheran Church, according toBill Peterson, president of the Walther League. "THE WHOLE THING WAS FUN" Qs ....sNevada City Elementary School P-TA co-chairman of Friday night's Hootenanny, Carol Friedrich, said the affair was not: only fun but a financial success. And it may become an annual event. With Seven Hills Principal Bill Gallagher, Mrs. Friedrich organized the event, Don Baggett, Nevada Union High School participation, and Bill Goerz, Nevada UnionJunior High School participation, lined up the 12 groups and individuals who participated in the show. Plan Festival The annual choir festival of the Mother Lode Chapter of American Guild of Organists will be presented at the Nevada City First Methodist Church Sunday at 4:30 p.m. Guest director will be Mrs. Winifred Sloop Hills. Mrs. Hillshashad 30 years ex~perience as a teacher of singing andas choral director in schools, churches and communities. Currently she is director of the Oroville Community Chorus.
She is a former state president of the Choral Conductor's Guild and is also an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing as well as the Music Teachers Association. Participating choirs include the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, First Baptist Church, First Methodist Church, all of Grass Valley, First Methodist Church of Nevada City, Downiev ille Methodist Church, Camptonville-North San Juan Methodist Church, and the Shepherd of the Hills Methodist Church of Dobbins. Organist for the festival will be Mrs. Ruth P. Rockwood, Grass Valley. Area residents are invited to attend the program, and all interested church musicians, even those not taking part in the event, are invited-to be present for the rehearsal which willbe held from 2to4 p.m. Attendance Records Set By County 4H The Tenth annual 4H Demonstration Field Day in Nevada County broke all attendance records, with 225 boys and girls of 13 4H clubs giving demonstra~ tions and illustrated talks Saturday at Nevada Union High School. Chicago Park and Alta-OaksSunset 4H Clubs tied for top honors with 92.3 per cent participation of members, Other clubs with high participation included Peardale, Meadowlarks and Spring Hill. General Chairmen for the day Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fusek presided over the closing assem blyat whichtime certificates were awarded. Steering committee members included Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Dittl, Mrs. Josephine Gasho, Mrs. DonnaJackson, Mrs. June Sylva, Mrs. Faye Kohler, Mrs. Marilyn Prisk, Mrs. Pat Jones, and Mrs. Lee Sovey. Attendance was estimated at 600. School District Set For Financial Aid _ TheReady Springs School Districthas qualified for a $1273 grant under provisions of the law which provides for financial as~sistance to schools in federally affected areas, it has been announced by Congressman Harold T.
