Mother and father, Mr. and Mrs, Lonnie Jueck, have been anticipating her arrival for some time. Christine weighed in on February 17 at 7 Ibs, and 5 oz. Mother and baby are just doing fine. The maternal grandmother and a ‘young aunt are here to visit Christine and help mother out with the chores. The Fire Dept. Auxiliary will hold its March meeting at the Grange Hall at 6:30 p.m. Monday March 3. It is to be a potluck dinner, Everyone in the community is encouraged to come. Land for a new fire house will be the topic of interest. You are to bring your own table service. Bread and butter and beverages will be served by the auxiliary. * * * The Jay Cullums have moved on to newer fields of endeavor and Mr. Byron Little from the Mobile Homes Park will be greeting customers at the Phillip's. service station in the future, . es Yes, ladies, Arvetta is back! The Arnold Turners have returned home from their business venture in Live Oak and an extended vacation. Mr, Turner's health was so bad that Arvetta says they are back to our wonderful country to stay this time.Their oldest daughter Shirley . and her husband Richard Hodo have taken over the’business in Live Oak, igh Mr, James Buchanan of N.C, and Miss Carol Lystrup of G.V. were married Saturday, February 22 — at 2:p.m. at the Little Wedding Chapel. Mr, Buchanan claims Rough and Ready as part time home, He lived here several years with his * mother, Mrs. ppeima Jones. Mr, and Mrs, Lowell Sears are in Empire, Nevada taking care oftheir grandchildren while the children's parents, Mr. and Mrs, Tindle, are away. Mr. Tindle was called home to Missouri where: his father is critically ill. Se Mrs. Ingra Sears, who is the lecturer for Rough and Ready Grange this year, is one of the : really witty people that we sometimes are fortunate enough to number among our neighbors, At the Grange open house earlier in the month she gave a reading titled T.V. commercials, It brought down the house. Ingra had written her own material, **ek* One reason Mr. and Mrs, Ted. Pearson moved from up Grass Valley way to Rough and Ready last fall, was to. get away from shoveling snow. They selected a smaller place, too, with less work due to Mr, Pearson's poor health, Their new home is the ‘gouth side of Marysville Hwy. just west of Rough and Ready Road. Mrs. Pearson, who isn't too well herself, hopes to plant Mrs. last week with hermother in Richmond while undergoing some special tests at the hospital there. The children were taken care of at home so they wouldn't have to miss school. Five year old Rhonda was very business like about taking a message and advised me her mother would be home over the weekend. * OK Dr. and Mrs. Gail Spaite of. El Cerrito spent last Thursday with Dr, and Mrs. Bert Spaite before going on to LakeTahoe for the weekend. It was Dr. Gail Spaite's birthday and the. Bert Spaites entertained with dinner for a group of friends Dr; Gail has made here in Rough and Ready while participating in our Secession Days celebration. * * * Mr. Kenneth C. Wilson of the Osceola: Ravine Rd. suffered a severe heart attack last week. He is recuperating at Sierra Nev. Meml, Hospital. Mrs. Wilson's brother and his family are visiting here from Oklahoma and the Wilsons sons also are up from the valley to be with their mother. * * * Old friends visited ‘the Roy Bradleys last weekend. Ruby and Harold Hooker and the Millard McFarlands from So. Calif. spent a long ‘weekend here. We're all looking forward to better weather but it has become really essential to Mr. E. S, Haas. He suffered a severe attack of virus pneumonia last fall and has had a hard time getting rid of the bug. He needs some nice sunshine, according to his. wife Isabel, to get back to his cheerful self again. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Terry Stevens and their three children have just moved into their new home on the old: Van Uden place off Rough and Ready Rd. The Stevens have been living in a mobile home there for the past . two years. They are very active in community affairs. This the second year Mrs. Joann Stevens has served on the ways and means committee for the Fire Dept, Auxiliary. The Rough and Ready Grange has a series of events scheduled for the near future. First on Saturday March 8 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. will be the ham dinner which was postponed in January due tothe weather. John Prochaska spent Superior Court Judge Vernon Stoll “Friday ordered a five months suspended jail sentence as part of three years probation for Michael Horney, 23, Grass Valley. Horney earlier pleaded guilty in Superior Court to the posession of marijuana and asked for probation. Judge Stoll warned ofthe seriWednesday, February 26, 1969 The Nevada County Nugget & Judge gives probation in pot case. before he granted the probation. He said marijuana has been used by some as a stimulant to commit violent acts. The judge said he has a belief that those who smoke or use marijuana do so to get "'outand change side themselves" what they normally are. Hause Funeral services were held here, Monday. for Dr. Oliver (Ollie) Hause, 81, retired Nevada City dentist who died in Miners Hospital February 21 after an iliness of about a month. Dr. Hause was born in San Francisco. He practiced dentistry in Nevada City with his office in the National Hotel building. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; a son, Oliver of El Cerrito; brother, Edward and sister, Naomi Hause, both of Burlingame and two grandchildren. Dr. Hause had been ill for about one month.
