Areas of concrete on the spillway have begun to degenerate, said Matlock, necessitating the work. The spillway was built in 1964 by NID and holds the waters of Scott’s Flat Reservoir east of Nevada City. Scott’s Flat has a , Surface area of 750 acres. The reservoir is a popular summer recreation area and can be reached by traveling on Highway 20 east of Nevada City to the Five Mile House, appropriately located five miles east of town.
