~ holds Ist directors meeting —
~The Tahoe Cattlemen's Association held its first directors
meeting of 1970 at La Bonte’s
Restaurant in Auburn January
15th.
President Ad=Long--of Cool
presided over the meeting of directors and members, who
braved inclement weather to
come from. Western Placer and
Nevada county.
Jerry Van Rein, agriculture
instructor at Sierra College, was
introduced to the group. Plans
were laid to institute a cooperative livestock program with
students at Sierra.
A report on the third annual
range bull sale held atthe County Fair Grounds at Roseville indicated the most successful to
‘El Dorado County Fairs and the
20th Agricultural District Fair
at Auburn for the procurement ~
of trophys for various agricultural classifications. :
. Liaison representatives to determine how the Tahoe Cattlemen ‘can best assist the fairs’
were appointed as follows: Auburn, Al Gomez; Placer county,
Bob Amlin; Nevada county, Hen-.
ry Magonigal,
Frances Coefield, of the Placer-Nevada Counties Cowhelles,
spoke to the group on the posSibility of establishing a Cattlemen-Cowbelle Blood Bank in
cooperation with the Auburn Area Blood Bank. The Cattlemen
voted to support the Cowbelles
in any way possible in this prodate. Efforts for further imject.
provements of the sale will be
made,
County. farm advisor Jack
Herr announced a one day edu_cational Stockmen's. Institute to
be held at. the Auburn Hotel
March 5th. Guest speakers will:
include Alvin Carpenter of U.
C, Berkeley, Rueben Albaugh and
Dr. George Crenshaw of U. C, .
Davis. Farm Advisors from several neighboring counties will .
also attend. Discussion periods
j will follow each speaker.
Cattlemen were advised that
some changes may have to be ~
made .in agreements with coun“ties regarding special land taxes under the Williamson Open
Space Act.
It was voted to provide $25
each to the--Placer, Nevada and
Tentative dates were set for
the major events of the year.
The next general meeting will be
a potluck luncheon with the Cowbelles at. Mt. Vernon Grange
Hall January 31st.

Mrs. Stevens has been employed at Nevada General Hospital
for 30. years.and' McCormack, now as buildings and grounds
