Large scale immunization A large scale immunization program in all public schools in western Nevada county will be conducted: The program was set up by the Nevada County Health Department and George Bryant, the county superintendent of schools. According to a recent national survey a large portion of preschool and school age children have not had the proper immunizations, nor have completed -the primary immunization series. ~ Students needing immunizations according to school heaith records will receive them providing a form sent home to parents for consent are completed. The following schedule has ‘been set up: January 27, San Juan Ridge, 9:30 12, North San Juan Firehall; January 28, Ready Springs, Clear Creek and Pleasant Valley, 9:30-3,. Ready Springs School; January 29, Pleasant Ridge, 9:30-3, Pleasant Ridge; January 30, Union Hill and Chicago Park, 9:30-11, Union Hill; January 31, Bell Hill and Union Hill, 9:30-12, Bell Hill, 1:15-3 for Union Hill if not completed; February 3, Nevada City Elementary, 9:30-12 at the school; February 4, Seven Hills and 3, Nevada City Elementary, 9:30-12 at the school; February 4, Seven Hills and at Washington, 9:30 to 3,. Seven Hills; February 6, Lyman Gilmore, 9:30-3, at.the school. Students at Hennessy School. will be immunized at a later date. The above schedule includes all special education students. Nevada City’s Hobert Baker gets promotion Hobert N. ‘“‘Hobe” Baker of . Nevada City has been promoted to Highway Superintendent at the California Department of Transportation’s Marysville Maintenance Headquarters. District Transportation Director Sam Helwer made the appointment. This is the fifth promotion for Baker in his 22-year state career. He bagan with the old State Division of Highways~—in Ione in 1952. Between 1953 and * 1955 he served with.the U. S. Army as an operations clerk. Upon discharge he returned to Ione. In 1958 he was promoted and transferred to Chico and six years later assigned to the Willows area as highway foreman. Four years ago, Baker was promoted to assistant highway superintendent at Nevada
City. In his new position, Baker will supervise a crew of 40 who maintain about 250 miles of state highways and freeways in Sutter and Yuba counties.
