COUNTRY A GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY...Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Berggren of Nevada City celebrated their 50th anniversary Sunday and posed for this family picture. Standing behind the Berggrens are their children (left to right) Shirley Shiffer, of Corning, Bob Berggren, and Vivian R. Berggren, both of Nevada City. A large group'of friends andrelatives was on hand for the celebration. Berggrens Celebrate 50th Anniversary NEVADA CITY ---Fifty years ago on Feb, 1, 1913, the former Ruth Murphy and Rudolph Berggren of Elgin, Ill. were united in marriage in St. Joseph, Michigan. Feb. 3 of. this year, Mr. and Mrs, Berggren commemorated the occasion by receiving their many relatives and friends in their lovely home at 449Broad St., Nevada City. Mr. and Mrs. B erggren have reared three children: Vivian R., Nevada City, Shirley Shiffer, Corning, Calif., and Bob, Nevada City. There are five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Prior to their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Berggren were employed at the Elgin Watch Company, Elgin, Ill, It was during this time, while attending a company dance that they met and eventually married. They continued with the company until moving to Los Angeles in 1927, and after eight years, to Nevada City. Sally Pasquali of Los Gatos was her sister's honor attendant. Holly Hill of Burlingame, Mary Jo Abascal of San Leandro and Janet Anderson of Sunnyvale, all sorority sisters of the bride, served as bridesmaids. The attendants wore emerald = Sandra Pasqualli Weds Paul Penrose In San Jose gowns with belled skirts and fitted bodices, Sherry Pasquali wore white lace over peau de soie and carried a basket filled with white carnations in her roll as flower girl for her sister. Richard Penrose stood with his brother. Wade Penrose and Harold Hummelt of Stockton, formerly of Nevada City, and Milton Brown of Pasadena seated the guests. A reception for the 200 guests was held in the Los Gatos History Club. The bride graduated from Fremont High School in San Jose and San Jose State College, where she was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority.
