We say the door is a broad-gauge mon

And
a coat of creamy yellow paint won't help
a bit.
Be that as it may, what really burns us
is the fact that the new door was chosen
without regardto appearance---if it looks
half way decent, which we believe it does
not, it is an accident.
The renovation of the
exterior of any
city-controlled historical building
should not be carried on in a thoughtless
manner. Infact, we believe it is time that
the city council gave a little thought to
the appearance of Nevada City, and in
particular the town's most historic structures. Whatcan be done to preserve them
as a living link with the glorious past,
and an
honest
and honorable lure to the
dollar loaded tourist?
Is there no club, no group, no organization, no individual in this once-great
town willing totake the lead in preventing
the seemingly inexorable transformation of
a town into an ordinary aluminum-front
neon alley?
Does everybody really think everything

their minds about the firehouse door?
