The annual event, which draws throngs of visitors from all parts of the country, marks the beginning of "The Year of the Tiger, “the 4660th year in the Chinese lunar calendar. Highlights of the Festival include selection and coronation of "Miss Chinatown U. S.A.," a coronation ball, special exhibits of Oriental art and culture, open house in many of Chinatown'stemples and shrines, and a huge street carnival.
