Maude Calvert,
Rough & Ready
resident, dies
Mrs, Maude Calvert, a 90year-old resident of Rough and
Ready, died Monday evening at
Nevada General Hospital.
Mrs, Calvert was born Maude
Taylor on aranch off the Bridgeport Road to Mr. and Mrs, Jack
Taylor. Her father was a butcher
first in Penn Valley and later
in Rough and Ready.
Mrs. Calvert lived on her
parents' ranch until she was five
then moved with them to Rough
and Ready to the house she lived '
in until entering the hospital
the end of December.
During her marriage, (her
husband died many years ago)
she lived for awhile in Oakland.
Mrs, Calbert was an active
member of the Rough and Ready
Grange, a member of Native
Daughters of the Golden West
and the Rebekahs,
She leaves a sister, Blanche
Fallas of Antioch; six grandchildren; two nephews, Dr. Lyman Maas of Sacramento and
Jack Taylor of Marysville, and
numerous other relatives,
Funeral services will be at
2 p.m. Thursday at Hooper and
Weaver Chapel with burial in
the Rough and Ready cemetery,

School and attended Sierra College.
Miss Young is a 1966 graduate
of Placer High School and presently attends Healds Business
College in Sacramento.

bride-to-be graduates from the

New Office
Plans to acquire a new main
office for Nevada City, California, were announced yesterday
by Postmaster General Lawrence F, O'Brien, who said the.
Post Office Department is seeking bids to build and lease the .
new facility,
The Department has not selected a site for the proposed
building, and each bid for the
lease must include a suitable location as part of the offer. The
preferred location is in conveniently located commercial areas,
