The State-operated California Maritime Academy is located on Carquinez Strait, Vallejo, at the head of San Francisco Bay. The Academy program provides , inthree years, approximately the same education
as the normal four-year college. The graduate receivesaB;S, degree, either in nautical science or in marine engineering. Wellpaid jobs as licensed officers in the U.S. Merchant Marines await the graduates. Those who are physically and otherwise qualified, are eligible for commissions in the U.S, NavalReserve. Students must pay a tuition fee which includes room and board, and must purchase their textbooks and uniforms.
