Vows Recited
Karen Ann Miller and Michael
Gregory Hartung on Dec. 2,
The Rev. Joseph Vereker officiated at the double ring ceremony before an altar banked
with white and red gladiolas and
chrysanthemums,
Karen Ann is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs, C. F. Miller,
Jr., of Grass Valley. The Ray
Hartungs also of Grass Valley,
are the parents of the groom.
Mr. Miller gave his daughter
in marriage. Mary Frances Tassone and Sister M. Bernata were
organist and soloist.
The bride chose a gown of
white crepe accented with alencon lace embroidered in a floral
motif. The fitted bodice was
designed with an empire waist,
portrait neckline and full tapered
sleeves. The sheath skirt featured a full chapel train attached
at the waist back and trimmed
with embroidered lace in the
same floral motif.
Her finger tip multi-tiered
silk illusion veil was secured
by an Isabella pillbox hat. A
cascade of red roses formed th
bridal bouquet. f
Carolyn Sanford was the maid
of honor. She was gowned in an

Club Meets
In Sacramento
A very interesting and informative meeting of the Sacramento Pioneer DoJl Club was
held Jan. 2 at the Garden and
Art Center in Sacramento. Mrs.
Gladys Martin of Antioch gave
a talk on celluloid dolls, Celluloid was invented as a substitute for ivory in 1865. Dolls
were not made of this material
until 1880 and this media was
used until about 1930 when plastic took its place, Members
brought with them celluloid dolls
to exhibit and 2. question and answer hour followed which brought
to light valuable information for
the members.
A slide program "Ladies Prefer Gentlemen" was given and all
dolls pictured were boys.
Hostesses, Mary Ready and
Vedah Affleck of Sacramento,
decorated the meeting hall with
snowmen . Each member received a miniature snowman for
a favor. >
Members are m plans to
attend the United Feder
Doll Clubs convention in Seattle
in August of this year.
CLUB NEWS
The Grass Valley Lodge No.
12, Independent Order of Odd
Fellows, will hold an open installation of officers at 8 p.m.
Jan. 11, in the Odd Fellows
Temple, 110 1/2 Mill Street,
Grass Valley.
James Arnold and Warren Ridinger are the noble grand and
vice grand elects, District Deputy Grand Master Harry Hodges
‘of Dutch Flat will do the installing.

A reception for approximately
150 guests was held at the Grass
Valley Elks Hall, For her daughter's wedding and reception,
Mrs, Miller chose a beige wool
suit with shocking pink accessories. A pink rose corsage
completed her attire. The
groom's mother wore a green
knit dress with brown accessories, Her corsage was of white
roses,
Kim Johnson, cousin of the
bride, was the flower girl.
For a wedding trip to San
Francisco, the new Mrs, Hartung chose a burnt orange wool
suit with black accessories. A
corsage of yellow mums completed her ensemble.
The young couple are graduates of Nevada Union High
School.

Wedding
Mr, and Mrs, Clark Duane
Gordon are at home to their
many friends at 2909 Marconi,
Sacramento, following their
marriage a 2 p.m., Dec. 17, in
the St. Patricks Church, Grass
Valley.

The bride, Shirley Lawson, is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Albert J. Lawson of Grass
Valley. Mrs. Jo Clausen of Grass
Valley and Mr. Charles Gordon
of Reno, are the parents of the
groom.
The bride was given in marriage by her father, Albert Lawson, Mary Tassone was the
organist,
A full length white velvet gown,
featuring an empire waistline,
three quarter length sleeves
trimmed with white mink and an
oval neckline, was chosen by
Shirley for her wedding. A detachable train was attached at
the waist back, with two small
bows.
a floor length bridal veil was
secured with a cluster of tiny
sequins and silk petals, She carried a bridal bouquet of white
mums accented wth white velvet leaves and ribbon.
Patty Cox served as matron
of honor and Linda Benuwiack
as bridesmaid, Their gowns of
burgandy colored crepe and velvet were styled with empire
waistlines and floor length
sheath skirts, They carried
white fur muffs accented with a
_.uster of burgandy roses.
Julie Lawson, niece of the
bride, was a demure little flower
girl dressed identically to the
other attendants and carried a
bouquet of burgandy roses.
Douglas Balmain, Jr., nephew
of the groom, had the honor
of carrying the rings.
Douglas Balmain, Sr., brother-in-law of the groom served
as best man, Denny Simpson and
Gary Cox ushered the guests
into the church,

Ceremony

ensemble was worn by the
groom's mother, Mrs. Clausen,
White orchid corsages completed
their attire.
The St. Patricks Parish Hall,
decorated with white mums,
ferns and holly was the locale
for the reception for approximately 130 guests.
The young couple honeymooned
at Lake Tahoe. The new Mrs.
Gordon chose a two piece orange
knit coat dress ensemble with
brown accessories for her going
away.
The bride and groom graduated
from Nevada Union High School
and Sierra College, after which
they enrolled at Sacramento
State. The bride will complete
her education at Sacramento
State in January 1968, The groom
is presently serving in the United
States Army stationed at Fort
Ord. ‘
Among the out of town guests
were: Mrs, Robert Dunn and Miss
Judi Dunn, Redondo Beach; the
Marion Van Emans and Miss
Alice Beaird of Hemet; Mrs.
G.A. Collins, Los Angeles; Evelyn Foos, Virginia Kellogg and
Denise Kellogg, all of Oakland;
the David Bawers and Mary Alice
Bawer, of Bijou; and Mrs, Harden Delafield of Angwin, Calif.
TO ATTEND DEMO MEET
Mrs. DeVere Mautino, chairman of the Nevada County
Democratic Central Committee,
will attend a statewide Democratic conference to be held
Jan, 12-14 in Fresno to launch
the 1968 Democratic campaigns.
Accompanying Mrs. Mautino to
the conference will be Mrs.
Charlotte Halstead of Nevada
City. Vice President Hubert H.
Humphrey will keynote the-conference on Saturday.
