C. — Congressman Harold T.’ "Bizz" Johnson, representing the Central Sierra area, has donated to the Sierra College library, a collection of prayers offered by the chaplain of the U. S. House of Representatives during the last three Congresses. "The House of Representatives opens. each of its daily sessions with a prayer,'' Congressman Johnson said, ''These are normally offered by the House chaplain, the Rev. Edward Gardner Latch, and it is the collection of his prayers which I am pleased to be able to donate to Sierra College." Congressman Johnson also donated to the college some basic background information on the Island of Guam. For 94 seniors, it is more than the end of a semester, This will be their time of graduation. College, adventure, marriage, jobs, escape, or just a taste of freedom, are many of the reasons these mid-term graduates will leave the halls of N.U., to venture into the wild blue yonder. A new semester also means new class officers. The petitions for new officers are already in circulation. Last semester was the first time a female student body president has ever been elected in the history of N.U. Sally Hale, filled this position and really got-the year off to a good start. She has, during her term, attempted to get more students involved in the school and its government. She has also, proved to the doubtful males that a female can handle the presidency. The basketball homecoming is scheduled for Friday the 14th, Sandy Van Meter has been elected as the homecoming queen. N.U. will be looking for a victory over Oakmont in this game, Last year the Miners won one and lost ‘one with them. The J.V. game starts at 6 in, the Albert Ali Gym. : On January 17th the Sacramento Chorale will perform in the girl's gym. Be sure and hear them--tickets are only $1 for students and $2 for adults, The Home Economics Department is prepared for their annual fashion show. The cooking classes provide all the refreshments for this event. All the fashions, and there will be many a colorful stitch, are done in the sewing classes by the students. So come and see the many, many fashions. This program will be held tonight, Wednesday the 12th, in N.U.'s multi-purpose room. This exclusive showing begins at 7:30, so don't miss it.
