C2: <I PRR AN O te Storms Slow Work Yuba-Bear Project Aims For December ‘65 The Nevada Irrigation District's $59 million Yuba -Bear River hydro-electric project is now 77 per cent complete according to the 19th progress report released by the district's project manager, Ebasco Services, Inc. The report covering the period ‘up to Dec. 31. indicates there were 463 men on the job. Of the approved project cost of $59,481, 640, a total of $37,250,842 had been expended to Dec, 31. The project completion date is Dec. 31,1965. Retirement Plan For City Workers To Be Studied (Continued from Page. 1) the area for possible rezoning was approved, On his recommendation, city attorney William Wetherall was authorized to engage the services of water attorney Adolph Moskovitz of Sacramento to makea study of the city's water rights. On the recommen dation of Councilman Beryl Robinson, the flat fee of $25 for water service connections was ordered removed from the ordinance and the simple charge for the costs of installation added, Thecouncil accepted with regret the resignation of city police patrolman Dick Mooers, Mooers, whowill join the county sheriff's department as a jailer, is the fourth city policeman recently to be sent to state police school at city expense only to leave shortly after to join the county staff. Acting Police Chief Clarence Martz told the council the city would never be able to hold young policemen until it had an employee retirement program, Councilman Ben Barry reported that two council members would meet with police and other city employees before the next meeting to learn what they wanted in a retirement program. Completio prerion The heavy storms during December continued to hamper the work at both the Mountain and Lower Division project sites, During the month there was an aver~ age precipitation of nearly an inch per day atthe lower sites and about one anda half inches a day in the Mountain Division. There is six feet of snow at Jackson Meadows and there was up to two feet in the lower division at the end of the period. Work in the mountains was confined to concreting in the tunnels and completion of the cut and cover section joining Tunnels One and Three on the Bowman-Spaul ding Conduit project. All construction was discontinued Dec. 18. The new Faucherie Reservoir is full and the new Jackson Meadows Reservoir storage now exceeds 25,000 acre feet and outlet valves have been opened to maintain this level as required by the state. The first stage operating floor at the Dutch Flat powerhouse on Bear River and the invert of the afterbay dam spillway chute were completed, Concreting progressed on the spillway walls and forming started for the two piers which will support the spillway bridge. Concrete was placed for an additional 4,000 feet of Chicago Park flume wall on Bear River and formwork continued at the: flume intake structure. Concreting of the first stage operating floor at the powerhouse. was completed and forming for additional concrete placement was started. The Rollins Dam embankment was completed and the reservoir filled during the period, Spillway concreting is 95 per cent complete and the spillway chute excavation is approximately 90 per cent complete.
