to Adair, Oklahoma, to check on
their lovely 80-acre ranch there,
and Fern's mother, Mrs. Ola
Marie Ott, is taking care of
things at Penn Valley, The
$22,000 stabilization pond started. last. year, is now nearing
completion, and it will be a big
factor in getting more mobile
homes into the Ranch, _

The flu bug has certainly been
busy heré, and the meeting of
Mother Lode Chapter 179 of the
Golden State Mobilehome Owners League slated for next Tuesday night has been canceled,
Our speakers who were to appear will be speaking at the
meeting next February 11 at the
rec hall, and I invite all mobile
home owners to come and hear
these young people.
Mike Northwood will. be in
charge of the men's breakfast
next Sunday, and I hope everyone will be well enough to attend and enjoy the excellent food

contest opens
Who will be California's next
dairy princess? That is the
question now being asked
throughout dairy circles in California, as the annual quest for
a young lady to represent the
dairy industry of the state gets
underway. Reigning dairy monarch is 19 year old Frances
Bispo, of Merced, who will reliquish her crown late in June,
at state ceremonies, following
fifteen district contests throughout the state.
Any young lady between the
ages of 17 and 25, unmarried,
with a dairy farm, dairy industry, or related dairy ind
background, is eligible to enter.

The final total of buck tags
returned to the Department of
Fish and Game for California's
1968 deer hunting seasons was
51,706 the DFG reported today.
The total reported kill was up
29 per cent from the 40,000tags
returned in 1967, However, the
DFG pointed out that the reported bags for the years 1966,
1967 and 1968 are not directly
comparable because of changes
inthe tag validation system,
Humboldt county, with portions in both the early and late
Seasons, was the top buck hunting county with 4,694 tags returned to the DFG, Mendocino
county, entirely in the early
Season, was No, 2 with 4,222,
Siskiyou, 3,857; Shasta, 2,291;
in the late season, rounded out
the top five counties for reported kill during 1968, :
