directors Friday approved an
a with Hansen Bros.
Enterprises, Inc. and Rolscott
Corporation, the concessionairs
for Rollins Reservor, for.
removal of gravel by .Hansen
Bros. from Greenhorn Creek.
The 10-year lease calls for
Hansen Bros. to pay the board
$3,000 a year minimum and 15
cents a ton royalty.
The agreement did not come
easily however, it has been in
the workings for many months.
and needed many additions and
corrections before all sides
could reach a compromise.

split any monies received for a.
portion of the gravel removal
with the Rollscott Corporation:
The concessionaire. had earlier
tried to sub-lease the operation
but NID officials felt that under
their lease-with the district this
was not. ble. A lawsuit
ruled that the two were to reach
an agreement and share monies
Arlie Hansen told the board
Friday ‘that he needed
assurance that his firm would
have right-of-way guarantees
from the 2,160 foot elevation
level to the Greenhorn Bridge.

Funeral services for the late
Walter Winsmore Chapman,
who died at a’, Sacramento
hospital Monday, were held in
the chapel of the Miller-Skelton & Herberger Fuperal Home
in Sacramento under the
auspices of Gravel Range Lodge
No. 59; F&AM, of Camptonville;
with Judge Acton M. Cleveland
and Robert. Thygesen con—
‘dueting the service.
Deceased was born in Bishop,
California, on June 24, 1891. He
spent the younger days of his life
in Nevada City , being a member
of a pioneer family of that
community .
He came to Camptonville in
1912, where he was employed as
a clerk in the Meek Mercantile
Company general merchandise
store where he worked until the,
first World War. Then he went to
San Francisco to work in the
ship yards. .He moved to
Sacramento in 1921, taking a
position with the Pacific
Telephone & Telegraph Company, attaining a managerial
position in which he retired from
the'c ly several years ago.
He wasa fifty-year member of
Gravel. Range Lodge No. 59,
F&AM of Camptonville and
served as master of the Lodge in
1917.
He is survived by two sons:
Winsmore of Whitefish, Montana,and . Sargent of
five . grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Eleanor
‘Vogel and a number of nieces,
Cremation followed the service with inurnment at Ea.
Lawn Cemetery in Sacramento.

Hansen Bros. gets NID gravel contract
The board amended the
agreement to provide this and
also added that if they should
decide to lease a gravel removal
operation for the area above the
Hansen Bros. operation that‘Hansen Bros.. would be notified —
in advance of the decision and
would be allowed to present a
Hansen told the’board that he
has put considerable time and
and he feels that it would be
wrong to allow another firm to
come in’ and remove gravel
upstream from his operation.
Board members indicated they
have no such intentions at this
time but if they should choose to
do so it would be up for bid.
In other ‘action the board
renewed a grazing lease on Orr
Creek Reservoir with Lester E.
MLB “Funnels” your
Johnson for the period
December 1, 1973 through
December. 1, 1974. The
agreement calls for payment of
$100 from Johnson.
They also approved a 6 per
cent pay raise effective January
1 for Yuba-Bear River project
hydraulic employes. These
employes usually have their
salary adjusted to the same
level as PG&E workers but
into LOCAL projects..

when PG&E gave a raise in
April they did not receive one.
The boai'd also approved a
certificate of completion for the.
Quaker Hill Flume removal
contract and they instituted
condemnation proceedings
against two property owners
involved in the Doty North
project.
In addition 11 right-of-way
agreements were accepted.
