Rotary. clubs ‘in Nevada City
and Minas, Uruguay, have exchanged banners and good will
through an American Field Service exchange student,
The South American Rotarians
are a sponsor of Marianna
Zeballos, 17, who delivered the
Minas Rotary Club banner to the
Nevada Cityans and spoke at
their luncheon meeting Thursday
in the Broiler. She was given a
Nevada City banner to deliver
when she returns home in July.
A letter from the South American Club to the local Rotarians
expressed pride that "we have
someone talking to you who came
to live there and promote friendship and peace between our two
countries," and asked that they
_ keep a watchful eye on her.
Miss Zeballos is a senior at
Nevada Union High School and
lives with the Robert Johnston
family in Nevada City.
She compared life and conditions here to those of her
home country and cited exposure
to snow as among the brand new
experiences she has encountered
here.
