Enter Plea of Guilty
Cattle rustling and marijuana
dominated the Superior Court
criminal calendar Friday with:
marijuana leading the list of
offenses,
Dear] Dwayne Brown, 32, Wei_ MInar, and Wayne Frank Doyle,
27, Applegate, each pleaded
guilty to rustling a steer from
a Magnolia Way ranch. The judge
~ appointed William Hager, public
defender, to represent the pair
and continued their cases until
Feb, 2. Bail for Brown was reduced from $3,750 to $1,000,
However, bail remained at $3,
750 for Doyle who has an adult
authority hold on him.
The court granted five years
probation to John Donald Baily,
45, Sacramento. Baily was convicted of the possession of mar-.
ijuana, Probation conditions require him to serve 60 days in
jail, and forbid him to use narcotics or associate with those
who do, He also was forbidden
to use alcohol.
Howard Thomas Melvin, 22,
Bellflower, reversed. a previous
plea of innocent and pleaded
guilty to counts of selling and
possessing marijuana, and furnishing it to minors, He will be
sentenced Feb. 2.
Despite Dist. Atty. Harold A.
Berliner's strong suggestion of
a prison sentence for Jay Arnold
Maxwell, 21, the judge ordered
five years probation, with the
first 90 days to be spent in the
county jail, Maxwell had pleaded
guilty to counts of selling and

other persons when two “hippie
pads" in the Edward Crossing
area were raided last fall. The
sentencing came on De Loretta's
return from an observation
period at the men's. medical
facility at Vacaville, as ordered
by Judge Stoll.
