Some Workers Due Refunds On Insurance About four million dollars will be refunded to California wage earners who overpaid their disability insurance premiums last year and who apply for their refund by July, Peter Weinberger, director of employment, estimated today. Persons who worked for two or more employers during the year may have had too much deducted because each employer, as required by law, made a withholding for disability insurance, If the wage earner's total deduction for this purpose exceeded $74 for the year, he is entitled to a refund of the excess from the state. Such refunds, however, are not automatic. Persons entitled to them must complete and file the necessary claim form with the Department of Employment, 800 Capitol Mall, Sacramento 95814, postmarked not later than July 1, 1968. NC Police Alarmed at Activities A recent rash of thefts and burglaries have drawn a voice of alarm from Nevada City Police Chief Jim Moon, Moon expressed his grave concern over the situation. In expressing his concern Moon warned of the seriousness of the offenses and the penalties involved. The statement came after officers investigated two thefts at the SPD market in the past few days. As a result of the investigations, three juveniles, all boys, are accused of taking liquor from the store and have been referred to juvenile authorities, Three Nevada City youths charged with burglary of three Nevada City business establishments and two counts of auto theft were booked into juvenile hall last week, Moon said his department participated in a recent meeting with other peace officers and school officials in a session designed to coordinate their efforts and lighten existing cooperation in handling of juvenile offenders. The group will schedule other such meetings, according to Moon, 4H Club News By ELIZABETH GOLLUB 4-H TV ACTION CLUB STARTED Boys and girls in the TahoeTruckee Unified School District are helping the University of California test a unique approach for. developing more local 4-H clubs, announces Skip Bolton, Placer-Nevada farm advisor. Dealing with emergency situations, TV Action clubs are organized on an individual basis with members watching a series of programs broadcast by Channel 8, Reno. A workbook coupled with suggestions for activities gives the member some action projects to complete each week-thus the name, TV Action Club. "We tried to pick a topic of general interest to boys and ' girls in any area of the state," adds Bolton. State officials today reminded California motorists that it is no longer necessary to visibly display a vehicle registration card in the vehicle for which issued, “Recognizing that evena locked car only partly protects its owner if his name and address are exposed to view, Highway Patrol Commissioner H. W. Sullivan and State Director of Motor Vehicles Verne Orr jointly encouraged motorists not to strap a registration card to the steering wheel, clip it to the sun visor, or similarly make it visible.
