The number of registered voters in each of the five supervisorial districts does not differ by very many. District I has 2,676 voters, District I has
2,871 voters, District II has 2,703 voters, District IV has 2,709 and District V has 2,607 voters. Jones who already had the entire Champion Providence group under his. control. The population of Nevada county as of the first of the new year was given as 17,000. Total population of California on the same date was estimated at 6,576,000, FEBRUARY: The month was ushered in with a rainstorm which doused the county with 11.61 inches bringing the season's total to 32 inches, The new $117,000 Nevada City Elementary School was dedicated by members of the local units‘of NSGW and NDGW and other civic organizations. MARCH: Heavy storms throughout February and March brought the month-end total of rain to 70.90 inches for the season. APRIL: The inauguration of a chapter of the famous E Clampus of Democrats. Vitus in Nevada City saw 96 "Poor Blind Candidates" initiated before a crowd of more than 100 members from many points in Northern California and Nevada. George, Executive Director of SEDD speak on the subject of Economic Development Districts. Miss George delivered an address to the convention. She told the delegates that the needs of the rural areas were real andof major proportions. It became apparent to the audience that the capabilities of Economic Development Districts and Conservation Districts could and should join in an effective team to serve local rural needs. Miss George explained how the Economic Development District is already serving the needs of people in Sierra, Nevada, Placer-and-E1 MAY: Mr. and Mrs, Eugene Tucker, and their two young daughters, departed by train from Colfax enroute O' Okeip Namaqualand mining district in South Africa, There, Mr. Tucker was to join the staff of the copper company. Mr. and Mrs. George Legg hosted a reunion of members of the Nevada City High School class of 1888 ata gala party in their Nevada Street home.
