We're getting lots of response
in our search for the oldest Nevada City native, and are amazed
that so many of our senior citi‘ gens were born here. This
proves a happy point ---that
Nevada City is too great too
leave, or wonderful enough to
return:to. If any of our readers
know of older persons who were
born in the Nevada City area,
please contact the Chamber Of
Commerce in the city hall, or
fill out a registration blank. at
one of the downtown stores.
We're going to honor the oldest
lady or gentleman in some way,
early next month,
The chamber will appreciate
hearing from all organizations
and clubs who have decided on
dates of coming events. A committee is co-operating with the
county chamber in compiling a
calendar of activities and functions, and need assistance from
all groups who are planning important events this year. The
Constitution Day.celebration has
been scheduled for September
14, according to chairman Bill
Lambert. The Annual Trade Fair
has been set for October 11.
All prospective exhibitors can
begin work early on their creations for the 1969 show. The
annual Nevada County Antique
Show will be held May 23, 24,
25 at the National Guard Armory, with a house tour on the
25th, Also the same weekend,
will be the musical stage show
at the Old Nevada Theater, "Kiss
Me, Kate", Repeat performances
will be held the following weekend, May 29, 30, 31.and June 1.
