Bids on band uniforms Low bids less than $32 apart were submitted to Nevada Union High School trustees for new band uniforms Monday. The board dit not award a contract immediately, but instead formed a committee to review the bids and look over sample uniforms sent with several of the bids. The cpparent low bid was $6,082.65 from Ostwald Co. Close behind was a $6,114 bid from Mirmont Associates. The only bidder present was the Mirmont representative, George Spiegelberg of San Mateo, and he closeted himself in the principal's office afterward to study the bids with Donald Gerhauser of the music. department and Principal Edward Frantz. Board Chairman Charles Allert and Trustee Harold George were delegated to meet Wednesday with Gerhauser and Supt. Gerald Gelatt to review the bids. A decision may be made at the next meeting, Jan. 19, but still to be resolved is how the uniforms will be financed. Gelatt reminded the trustees Monday that no money has been budgeted by the district to pay the amount above what the students have raised, When bids were sought last fall, it was reported that the students had raised $2,500 for band uniforms, another $813 is available from a "mile of pennies" and the Boosters Club said it has about $400 to contribute. That leaves $2,400 still to be raised, and the trustees gave no indication ‘Monday. whether they will dip into the reserves for that amount. Other bids submitted were $6,164 from Fechheimer Bros., $6,505 from Fruhauf Uniforms Inc. and $6,700 from Stanbury and Co. The bid total is for 60 uniforms. Unit prices for the two apparent lowest bidders are $101.35 per uniform from Ostwald and $101.90 from Mirmont. Spiegelberg said his firm supplied the uniforms used in the past at Nevada Union, Students and sports fans have been urging acquisition of new uniforms because the old ones are worn out and students have been wearing homemade ones the past two years, Help yourselt with a Checkup and others With a Check AMERICAN CANCER
