CANNON...No matter what the age of the guests at your Fourth of July shindig,
they'll get a bang out of this cannon, paper cups and plates designed for the day.
And mother can get a rest from dishwashing for the holiday crowd.

NEW YORK --Add more spark
to your Fourth of July this
year---with a party for your
family and friends. Starspangled decorations for the
“blast” can be made of inexpensive paper products; refreshments as apt as they're
tasty will cause guests to salute you.
To set a patriotic table,
cover the surface with lengths
of white crepe paper held in
place by tape. Lay two-inch
wide red crepe streamers
every twoinches over front of
table. A strip of blue decorated crepeinstar design cov~
erstheback. Across the front
of the table, hang a festoon
of red, white and blue party
bonbons. Tie ribbons around
one end of each bonbon, and
hang them to the red twisted
crepe paper cord, Catch the
cord at the corners with blue
“ribbonties. Also tie a bunch
of tiny dangling firecrackers
at each table corner.
You'll be right on target
with a connon centerpiece.
A long cardboard towel roll
covered with blue and red
crepe paper rests in a seaopedout cottage cheese container;
make the pinwheels out of
container lids, with spokes of
red and blue crepe paper.
Tape atiny American flag to
one side of the “cannon.”
‘If you wish, you can drum
up even more interest by locating a paper food or pajnt
pail with a cover--Lily-Tulip
makes them in various sizes
--and trimming it with red,
white and blue masking tape.
Finish up by trimming both
top and bottom edges with red
tape, then pasting on white
polka dots, Drumsticks can
be improvised by covering a
couple of pencils with tape.
After all this preparation,
it would. be a shame if your
chinaware clashed with the
All-A merican decor--so don't
let it! Paper cups and plates
can be selected to fit the
mood: Lily Cups, specially
treatedtokeephot drinks hot
and cool ones frigid, now
come in gay Gull designs, an
interesting pattern of white
wings against an appropriately red or blue background.
Besides being part of the
party decorations, paperware
is also Mom's "declaration of
independence" from dishwashing for the day.
Fill the cups with an unusual summer cooler, Golden Dawn Punch. You make
with 1 pint apricot syrup, 1
pint lime juice and 3 pints
Orange juice, both freshly
squeezed, if possible, At time
of serving, add 3 quarts of
Club soda to the punchbowl.
