The problem that is the subject
of the experiment is to determine what will grow best on the.

making it difficult to grow grass.
Willard Schollerman of Boise
Cascade explained that an ex+perimental slope was planted
last week along 3,000 feet of the
new Pleasant Valley Road, reconstructed to go around the
subdivision project.
A chemical called Aquatane is
being used at~the suggestion
of the contractor, Teichert Construction. "It's a soil stabilizer
which prevents erosion and facilitates penetration of water
down. into the soil rather than
sheet runoff," Schollerman explained. "It also makes a more
desirable soil condition for
propogation of different types of
foliage."
Soil erosion has been a problem at some Nevada county subdivisions, and there was an incident last winter in which large
quantities of mud_ slid down
slopes and. acorss a road in
Cascade Shores, (despite the
name Cascade, that project was
built by a different company).
Consequently, Soil Conservation Service; county and development officials have been
studying means of reducing the gy
problem at Wildwood.
When the mixture of Aquatane,
water, fertilizer and seed was
applied, several officials
watched the progress, including
