The Nevada Irrigation District Board of Directors yesterday voted to.expand camping facilities at the lake. In front of the photo is the dam and in the background is English Mountain which still has snow on this late date. Bid awarded for Jackson Meadows Nevada Irrigation District had a large turnout Wednesday for a 2 p.m. bid opening that led to the awarding of a contract for Jackson Meadows Reservoir recreation construction work to Winchell and Small Construction of North Highlands. Nearly al! of the ten bidding companies wererepresented as Reg King, consulting engineer for the_project read the bids. After the reading only one left the room smiling, that was Jack Winchell who had submitted the low bid of $186,617. 4 His suspicion that the Winchell and Small bid would take the project was confirmed two. hours later when King returned to the board room after checking the addition on all bids. The low bid was correct to the penny. Surprisingly, considering the size of the project, it was the only bid that was added correctly, King reported. cies which ranged.up to $20,000 both high and low of announced bids were found in all other submitted bids. _ ‘The board was also happy with the bid. It is about $22,000 below the estimate of their engineers. Construction will begin soon on an-ad-50 campsites, road im© £9 Fad 4S gk dhs Mets ditional PRR SSE PR Ek provements and other facilities. The project is projected to be finished before severe weather halts the construction season. NID: also came out ahead of their engineering estimate on a second: upcoming job. The low bid for 2,243 feet of 24-inch pipe for the Long Ranch Siphon and B Canal was $40,607, nearly $10,000 below the NID estimate. Emron Pipe Products of Hayward won the contract and will provide concrete cylinder pipe with steel shell for the work. ' In a bid opening which was conducted at the last regular meeting and decision withheld for consideration, Gene Elliot of Grass Valley was awarded a contract for repair work on Wolf Mountain Road. The price of the work is $7,000 to which NID plans to add an additional $3,000 worth of road oil which they did not include in their original specifications. It was announced by Board President Francis Dobbas that bids for another NID project are now being sought and will be opened on Aug. 6. The bids will be for work in the Rollins Lake and Scotts Flat areas. The
