Gli law changes making
it better for widows
Recent, changes in the G.L
home loan program should make
it easier for thousands of unremarried widows of veterans to
get G.I. home loans, announced
Gordon R, Elliott, Manager of
VA's Northern California Regional office.
Basic eligibility requirements
are that the widow's husband
either died on active duty or
from a service-connected disability, Elliott said, and the veteran's service was during World
War Il or after June 27, 1950,
A new law permits the VA
to guarantee home loans up to
$12,500 of the loan amount but
not more than 60 percent of the
loan, Elliott added.
The higher ceiling on G.L
loan interest rates that went
into effect recently should help
these widows to get a G.L loan
from a commercial lending institution, he said.
