California Fish and Game
Commission is scheduled for
9:00 AM, Monday, July 31,
in the West Wing auditorium
of the Employment Building,
122 Capitol Avenue, Sacramento,
Principal business will be
to act upon the 40 antlerless
and either-sex deer hunts
proposed by the Department.
Public hearings have been
held in the affected areas
by members of the Fish and
Game Commission and the
Director of the Department.
The Commissioners will present their recommendations
at the July 31 meeting and
determine whether the hunts
will actually beheld, on the
basis of testimony at the
hearings.
Another item on the agenda of the upcoming meeting
is a review of the Commission's deer management policy.

Fair Goers
ROSEVILLE--July 28 has
been designated as "Thrill
Day" at the Placer County
Fair, it was announced this
week by Dave Fiddyment,
president. Fair dates are
July 26-30,
Fiddyment said contracts
have been signed for an evening showing of the World
Champion Auto Daredevils
in the Grandstand arena,
Thrill events will include
an auto roll-over contest between stunt drivers, a "slide
for life" by a stuntman from
the rear of a speeding machine, an 80-foot leap by
an auto through the air and
a three-point landing atop
another machine, trick motorcycle riding, clown acts,
a ride through flaming gasoline, and an appearance
by Ewald (Dutch) Schnitzer,
from Berlin, Germany, who
allows himself to be "blown
up” by dynamite.
Fiddyment said the thrill
troupe will include an appearance by Gary Cochrane,
at 17 believed to be the
youngest stuntman in the
United States.
