The canoe trip began on June
24 at the North Shore Coast
Guard Station. The first ‘stop,
Tahoe City State Park, was only
one mile away from where we
launched our canoes but it was
far enough to get us broken in
to what was really ahead of us.
Other stops around the lake included Kaspian Nationa) Forest
Camp, Sugar Pine Point State
Park, Emerald Bay Boat Camp,
South Lake Tahoe Recreation
Area, Nevada State Beach Toyoiabe National Forest, William
Bliss Acreage at Glenbrook Bay,
Sand Harbor Beach Area, The
Melin's private dock at Tahoe
Vista, and then returning to
Tahoe City State Park. The
entire trip involved 72 miles of
paddling but we did not push:
our time.
We extend our trip to 10
days because we wanted to do
much more than canoe the lake.
When we were camped at Emerald Bay we took a hike to
Eagle Falls then on to Eagle
Lake, we also took a tour of
the Vikingsholm at Emerald Bay.
While on our way to South Lake
Tahoe Recreation Area we
stopped at Taylor Creek and visited a fishery where we could
see the creek life underwater.
