342 students on honor Southwest area group
wants water, will pay
A group of landowners in
southwestern Nevada county
want water and are willingto pay
--setting the stage for a possible
$565,926 Nevada Irrigation Dis-trict construction project.
Heading the landowners is Bill
‘Steen who appeared before the
NID directors at their regular
meeting Wednesday. The site
covers 8,000 acres on what tsed
to be Camp Beale property.
NID Manager Frank Clendenan
told the board that ''NID has been
interested in bringing water to
this area, The group is willing
to enter into a contract with NID
to pay back the cost of the construction, plus pay for the water.
They will guarantee us $31,000
a year for 39 years for 1,000
miner's inches of water a year
--whether they use it or not."
Clendenen further explained
that if more than 1,000 inches
of water is used, the landowners
would pay the going rate for the
extra water. Owners will sign
contracts, If they don't pay their
share, the amount will go on the
tax roll for collection.
Ditches already lead to the
proposed service area. The

Default
against
air firm
Sis-Q Flying Service is being
declared in default on its contract as fixed base operator at
Nevada County Airpark.
The county board of supervisors .began default proceedings Tuesday, but there is a possibility Sis-Q may remain atthe
airport under a different agreement,
The board declared default
under a 30-day cancellation
clause, contending failure to
perform in two areas, These are
(1) Sis-Q owes the county $1,200
in back lease payments, County
Counsel Leo Todd said, and
(2) the. firm failed to build a
hanger which it had agreed in the
contract to build,
The supervisors also issued
a 90-day cancellation which the
county can do without listingany
reasons,
Todd, at the request of the
airport: commission, asked for
cancellation of the Sis-Q contract on both the 30-day and 90day clauses.
the board on which he,
Clendenen, the landowners’ attorney Clint Henning, and NID
attorney David Minasian had
reached agreement,
‘After much discussion with the
-directors, some of the wording
in the contract was changed.
The directors took no formal_
action on the project but agreed
to take a field trip of the area
and hope to vote on the project
at the next meeting, July 9.
Chairman Alex Ferreria said
"this is the kind of agreement
we have to have to develop
this district."

Chart to
tell duties
at hospital
The board of supervisors does
not anticipate difficulty in a.
division of authority between
two heads of Nevada General
_Hospital when a new administrator reports for duty July 1.
Dean Lawrence, a member of
the hospital committee, Tuesday
told the board that a chart clearly defining the duties of medical director and administrator
has been located. This chart
has been adopted ad guidelines
by a previous board, according
to Mrs, Lawrence,
The board appointed Dr. Peter
J. Keenan, medical director, to
serve as a temporary administrator upon the resignation of
Richard Kuhwarth some months
ago. The appointment carried no
increase in salary. There were
indications at the time that the
two men had difficulty working
together.
