in this area was solemnized June
18 in Lamont, Iowa, when Rose
Ann Boeding became the bride
of Gary D. Davis, son of Mr.
and Mrs, Larry C, Davis, Nevada City. The bride's parents
are Mr, and Mrs, Henry J, Boeding, Lamont, Iowa.
The young couple were married in the St. Mary's Catholic
Church, Lamont, with Father
Norbert Showalter officiating.
For the double ring ceremony,
the bride chose a gown of silk
organza over taffeta featuring
lace inserts and trim, Her chapel length mantilla with lace
trim was held by a crown of
pearls and crystals, She carried
a bouquet of full red roses with
ivy streamers,

The childrens ‘room of the
Nevada City Library is being
reorganized. A gradual updating of the whole library has
been in progress for some time
through the combined efforts of
the librarians, the board, Friends
of the Libraries and many individuals,
Shelves were added this spring
forthe display of more books for
very young children. Attractive
and worthwhile volumes have
been added for young people of
all ages,
The Soroptimist Club of Nevada City provided funds for a
periodicalrack. The table in
the children's section, which
formerly he1d the newspapers,

Rod Hisken, 28, well-known
Truckee Elementary School teacher, who won the Jaycee outstanding young teacher award
for the State of Califomia, was
eliminated in the National finals
this week,
Hisken, who brought considerable prestige to himself and
the local school district by besting other young teachers from
the entire state, flew to Baton
Rouge, La., with his wife Sharon to Compete on a national
basis with other state-wide winners, The event was sponsored
by the United States Junior
Chambers of Commerce, and
the World Book Encyclopedia,
The four National winners receiving $2000 each were Mrs.
Jay Wilkes of Boulder, Colorado,
Dr. Frederic Pierce of Jackson
City, New York; Vincent Varones of Montville, Conn. » and

organized softball teams,
Mrs. Sharon Shultz and Mrs,
Iona Baker, two team members,
tell me that their aches and
pains are subsiding after several
weeks practice at the twice a
week schedule, and they are
looking forward to challenging
teams from other areas.
Men of the area have already
formed a twice a week league
with teams sponsored by Vails
Drug in first place followed by
Lloynds Drug, Fontanas, and

Mrs, Sue Jensen was reelected
president of the Nevada City
School Board last week at the
reorganization meeting held in
the elementary school,
In addition to Mrs. Jensen,
H.L. Childers was named clerk
of the board and Carl Early was
elected transportation representative,
T he board voted to continue
holding regular meetings at
7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month,
Superintendent Edward Browning presented a publication budget of $308,750 which was approved by the board.
