out of date volumes or ones that neyer seemed to be removed from the library by card holders, This group of book sorters came across some unusual things during their labors. Last time the local group hosted a state board meeting more than 1,000 attended. A huge crowd of trailer fans is expected at the fairgrounds Aug. 4-7 when 500 to 700 trailers converge on the Lions Lake picnic area for a national convention. With just a few weeks to give the fairgrounds the final touches, the 17th District Agricultural Association Fair will open-August 25 for a four day run. Something new has been scheduled this year for the final fair night. Each year it becomes harder and harder for the board to come up with an event that will pull out the crowds on that last night. Hardtop racing, rodeos, horseshows and roller derbys have all been tried. This year it will be a destruction derby. Run in a small area in front of the grandstand, the main purpose is to smash the dickens out of every other automobile and still remain in driving condition yourself at the end of an allotted period of time. In addition to being allowed to back intoand drive forward into every car in sight, a cash prize will also be awarded to the survivor.
