O'Neill Comedy ‘Take Me
Along’ Will Start Monday
At The Music
Take Me Along, the musical
comedy spun out of Eugene
O'Neill's only light hearted play,
Ah, Wilderness!, the sixth production of the 1965 Music Circus
season, will open Monday and
plays nightly at 8:30 through
August 17%.
Take Me Along recalls the joys
and gentle poignancies of family
life in a small Connecticut town
in 1906. The center pins of the
tale are a serene couple, the
town's newspaper editor and his
loyally admiring wife. Their
tranquillity suffers a few jolts
w hen two romances culminate,
one mature, one adolescent.
The mature one is between Sid,
the editor's brother in law, and
_ his spinster sister, Lily, who has
waited sixteen years for the
bibulous Sid to reform and propose

Dinner Set
For Sunday
A roast beef dinner sponsored
by the Watt Park Volunteer Fire
Department will be held in the
home economics building at the
NevadaCounty District~fair~
grounds Sunday.
The meal will be served from
1to3 p.m. An automatic oven
broiler will be given away as a
door prize.
Tickets may be purchased in
advance at the following Grass
Valley locations: Pick N Pan
Cafe; Maltman's; Hattox Jewelry;
AtoZ Supply or from any member
of the fire department. Tickets
will also be on sale at the door
Sunday.
Neva Lions Name
New Officers For
The Coming Year
Pauline Bergemann was elected
new president of the Nevada City
Neva Lions June 24 at a meeting
held in the home of Margie
Warner in Nevada City.
Other new officers elected are:
Brita Rozynski, vice president;
Joan Gilbert, secretary; Georgia
Knutson, treasurer and Shirley
Griggs, tailtwister, Chris Craggs
and Bea Nickerl were named to
the board of directors.
The new Officers will be installed at a dinner scheduled for
July 24 in The Broiler, Nevada
City.. Doris Sodolski and Brita
Rozynski are the co-chairmen of
the event.
The Neva Lions will meet at
9 a.m. July 23in the Nevada
City Veterans Building to cook
tacosauce forthe Nevada County
District Fair. A_ total of 700
pounds of sauce will be cooked
and frozen for use when the fair
begins. Margie Wagner is the
chairman.

T he adolescent.rom ance concerns Richard, the editor's teenage
son, and the daughter of a
neighbor who grows furious when
he learns the lad has been quoting
Omar Khayam and Oscar Wilde
to his innocent child. Rebuffed,
Richard attempts a fling with a
chorus girl who inhales cigarettes,
but retreats in panic--only to
have to listen stony faced to a
lecture from his ill at ease father
on the facts of life.
Fourteen memorable songs
decorate the play including:
Little Green Snake, I Get Embarassed, But Yours, andthe
fam ous title song.
Starring in Take Me ‘Along are
Marvin Miller, Peggy Bonini and
Danny Lockin.
Marvin Miller is best remembered as the check delivering
hero of TV's The Millionaire of
a few seasons ago. In Take Me
Along he costars as Sid.
Peggy Bonini, versatile opera
and stage star, scored a great
personal success in two of last
season's Music Circus productions:
She Loves Me and The Boys From
Syracuse, Her only Sacramento
appearance this year is as Lily.
Danny Lockin displayed his
dancing, acting and singing
ability to Music Circus audiences
for the first time this year as
Tommy in The Music Man, He
portrays the love smitten Richard.
Coast Guard
Offers New
SPAR Program
The U. S. Coast Guard announces a special program of
active duty and reserve training
for qualified young women between the ages of 18 and 30,
The fortunate group of young
women who will be selected for
enlistment as SPARS in the Coast
Guard will have the opportunity
to complete six months of special
training and an additional six
months of on-the-job training.
Following completion of this one
year of active duty, they will
return to their homes and enter
Organized Reserve Units where
they will train in weekly or
monthly meetings and spend two
weeks on active duty each year.
For girls who have just graduated
from high school and haven't
decided on a Career -or, for the
young woman who desires to
acquire new knowledge and
skills -this is the opportunity to
experience the challenges of
active interesting military life, ..
and receive valuable training experience at the same time.

SPAR, young women between the
ages of 18 and 30 should contact

July 10, in a candlelight ceremony in the Clear Lake Presbyterian Church, Kelseyville. The

gown of silk organza. It featured
a controlled sheath skirt with
natural waistline, long-sleeved
bodice, Italian neckline. The
midriff, neckline and skirt detailed with imported Italian lace
applique with matching design
on the detachable chapel length
train; covered buttons at wrists
and down the back of gown.
Her elbow length French illusion
veil was held in place by a small
pillbox appliqued with seed
pearls, She carried a bouquet of

Five County Students Get
Scholarships From Cal
Five Nevada County students
are among: the 900 recipients of
scholarships awarded to undergraduates at the University of
California's Berkeley campus for
the 1965-66 academic year.
The scholarship winners were
chosen from some 2,500 applicants who met the requirement
of a B grade average.
Financial need also is a factor
in determining winners of the
scholarships, which generally
range from $200 to $600. The
awards are important because the
annual budget for a student living
away from home is estimated at
$1,700, and 65 per cent of
Berkeley's 17,000 undergraduates
work to support themselves,
Scholarships include those pro-vided by the California Alumni
Association, the University
Regents, numerous service groups,
foundations, and ‘individuals,

Colfax Art Show
Scheduled For Sunday
An exhibit of the art works of
Mrs, Robert Richardson of Colfax
willbe held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday in*the Little Red Hen in
Colfax.
Mrs, Richardson, who has studied
art in Portland, Ore., andSeattle,
Wash., will show oils, watercolors, pastels and sketches,
gowns in shades of blue floral
print with an overlay of blue

Corps.
