American River JC ‘An Evening Of One-Acts The Theater Arts Department at American River Junior College this week announced its 1964-65 season schedule which will include three major productions and “an evening of one acts, The schedule is being extended one day to provide a four-day run for each production in 1964-65. Each show will open on Wednesday night and continue through Saturday, with curtain time at 8:15 p.m. All productions will be held in the River Playhouse. on the ARJC campus, with all seats reserved and advance ticket sales scheduled. On Dec. 9,10,11 and 12, the department will present Molieré's “The Phystcian in Spite of Himself." One of Moliere's truly classic farce comedies, the play deals with a rather disreputable woodsman who is mistaken for a famous physieian and with the adventures into’ which this fraud leads him. The play will be done in the costumes and settings of the commedia. de l'arte period. The production will be directed by William Sibley of ARJC's theater arts staff. Tentatively selected as the . spring drama will be Maxwell Andersen's "The Wingless Vic~tory," scheduled f or March 24, 25,26 and 27. This playisa romantic tragedy with a setting in the days of the Salem clipper -shi is-aboutNathaniel McQueston, anadventurer whoran away to sea when he was young. He amasseda fortune, fell in love with a Malayan princess, steals a ship, steals the princess and returns home to flaunt his riches and torment his pious Puritan family by bringing a darkskinned wife into their smug little New England town. Final drama offering of the year will be “an evening of one acts” scheduled four nights, May 10, 11,12 and 18, with the specific features to be announced, Summer Sessions At Chico Poetry, transistors, counseling, life saving, and furniture design are but a sample of the 23 subject areas which will be part of postsummer session offerings at Chico State College during the last week of July and the month of August. All courses will satisfy the requirements for residence credit and a student may enroll for a maximum of four units, according to Dr. Victor M. Houston, Dean of Summer Sessions and Extension Services. The bulk of the courses will begin on July 27, following registration in the North Gymnasium at 8a.m., andwill meet for time periods ranging from one week to four weeks, The fee per unit of work will be $14. 25.
