revenues,
This was decided by the supervisors Tuesday by a 4-1 vote.
Supervisor Ralph Buchanan,
who wanted to use money from
the airport commission budget,
voted no.
County officials learned last
week that revenues to the county
from Forest Service timber
sales will be about $30,000 higher than expected. This prompted
a recommendation from Auditor
John T. Trauner that this money
be used to pay the down payment
of $25,000 for the old Cal Nat
property being purchased for a
corporation yard. Total cost of
the site is $119,000.
Trauner made the recommendation on behalf of a committee
consisting of himself, County
Counsel Leo Todd and Public
Works Director Harry Hider.
The auditor said road department money would be available
to pay the yearly lease payments
over a 10-year period.
However, he suggested, and
the board agreed, that the contract with Small Business Administration, owner of the property, stipulated that the county
can pay off the purchase sooner
if it wishes,
Another. stipulation will allow
the county at any time to shift
its current equity to lot two,
which won't be used for the
maintenance yard.

All structures
will be subject
to building code
After earlier agreeing to let
agricultural buildings be exempt
‘from the. building code, Nevada
county's supervisors decided
Tuesday that all structures will
be subject to the code.
The building department recommended that the code apply
to all buildings, and supervisors
themselves said they had learned
of problems in trying to exempt
agriculture buildings. .
The thought had been that such
buildings as barns don't need tc
be as structurally strong as do
houses. However, Public Works
Director Harry Hider pointed out
that the code contains different
standards for different kinds of
buildings, so barns won'thave to
be built as sturdy as a house,
Requiring that all buildings
comply with the code means
that everyone building a structure will have to obtain a permit and the construction will
be inspected. ‘
Tuesday's action will require
a change in the ordinance, and
County Counsel Leo Todd was
instructed to draft new language.
One problem inspectors encountered owas. determining
whether’ a building really was
for agriculture.
