Jones has announced that units of the Califomia State Park System in the Tahoe Basin will not add to the pollution problems of Lake TaIn reference to the two-day federal -state water pollution control conference that opened last week to discuss methods of controlling pollution in the Tahoe Basin, Jones explained how ’ park units in the area operate to avoid dumping sewage into the lake. “The Tahoe State Recreation Area," he said, “ties into the Tahoe City sewage system where sewage is treated and discharged to percolation beds, not into the lake. “At D. L. Bliss and Emerald Bay State Parks, leaching systems: are used, and no waste is discharged into Lake Tahoe. "We will build a secondary sewage treatment plant at our new Sugar Pine Point State Park from which treated effluent will be discharged into leaching fields at least 1800 feet from the shoreline.
