City attended the conference of
American Baptist Women of the
West which was held at Squaw
Valley four days.
Because of the merger of the
separate organizations of the
_ women of Sierra Nevada and
Northern California into one
group, there was just one conference planned by Northern
California women at Mt, Hermon, with the other conference
planned by the Nevada women
at Squaw Valley.

Clyde Stuart, Senior Patrol leader of Boy Scout Troop
58, left early Sunday for two cool weeks at Glacier Trails
Scout Ranch, Cisco Grove, Next week the rest of the troop
will join him at camp, Doug Buckbee, who presides at the
North .€an Juan Post Office, is Scoutmaster of this group.
Troop 58 did a beautiful job as their part of Project Soar
on July 4th, They cleaned up the Highway 49 between Peterson's Corner and the bridge at Oregon Creek, plus the town
of North San Juan, removing several pickup loads of beer
cans, etc, When they return from camp they plan to continue
this ‘worthwhile activity, Members who participated are Terry
Adams, Johnny Bradshaw, Jeff Brady, Jim Buckbee, Perry
McComb, Tim Orr, Eric Hynes, Bob Hynes, Bob Roth, Joe
Ramos and Scott Hatch. These boys and their leader deserve
the commendation of the community,
North San Juan: United Methodist Church is breaking in a
‘new minister, Brian Wilbur, who with his wife Glennis and two
small sons, is now resident in the parsonage at Downleville,
Mr, Wilbur is going to be a busy man, In addition to North San
Juan, he is ministering to churches in Downieville, Dobbins,
and Sierra City. He comes from Lake’ Isabella, in the Sierra
foothills east of Bakersfield. Sam Lenderman, the previous
pastor, has been moved to the church in Pinole,
The Methodist’ Church's Daily Vacation Church School
will start Monday, August 2, This year it will be held in the
spacious, shady yard of the Gene Stuart home, due to lack of
water and other facilities at the church,

our midst, Nora Selvester, who was honored July 24 at a bridal
shower hostessed by Patricia Blakeslee, will marry Robert
Boeger August 21 in Meadow Vista, Forty ladies attended
the shower in the fire hall, Nora, the daughter of Fran and
Jim Selvester, grew up in North San Juan, The family moved
to Meadow Vista a couple of years ago. —
Glendon Moore, son of Bertha and Tim Moore, formerly
of this area now living in Olivehurst, will wed Patricia Maryann
Souza of Marysville August 14 in St, Joseph's Catholic Church
in Marysville.,
Marsha Hatch and Steve Hamilton were+ married July
21 in Reno. A reception in their honor was given at the fire
-hall the following Friday,
Dorothy Cavanaugh Hughes and Monty Milhous will take
their vows August 14 in the Whispering Pines Church of God
in Grass Valley, All this might not add up to an epidemic,
but for a small community, it comes pretty close, And by

Tony Setting, who married Linda Buckbee in Hawaii two
years ago, is reported recovered from serious injuries sustained in the line of duty during a riot in Quonset, Rhode Island, where he is a Navy Shore Patrol squad leader. Linda and
Tony are the proud parents of baby Doug, three months old, .

Teen Club -had their regular monthly dance there Saturday
night, They had a live band, a good crowd, and a great time,
