It should be pointed out that
the injection of more than $1.7
million into the economy of the
Third District for construction
and park acquisition and development will create a big economic impact, but the payrolls these
construction projects will gens,
erate will increase that economic impact several times andthat
is good news for residents of the -district.

at Rollins
Things~-are looking a little
brighter--or perhaps that should
be clearer -at Rollins Lake
Recreation Area.
Recreation use fell 50 per cent
in recent weeks after the water
level dropped 17 feet, leaving
muddy beaches and water. .
However, the water level at
Rollins has stabilzed now, reports Karen Luglan, one of the
resort's operators,
"Beaches are now dry, andthe
water is once again clear," she
said. "We are hopeful that the
lake will slowly begin to rise."
Mrs. Luglan expressed the
hope that Pacific Gas and
Electric Co. could -maintain a
good water level in the lake
during summer months, noting
that a low level was experienced
during the 1968 season too.
However, the major problem
this summer was an outage in a
transformer, requiring extra
lowering of the lake so temporary units could be ‘installed.
Mrs. Luglan noted that "such
unfortunate occurrences" as the
lowered lake level" are not only
harmful to recreational enterprises at the lake itself, but to
all businesses in Nevada and
Placer counties which rely upon
the tourist trade."
