The Womens Activities Committee of the Rough and Ready
Grange held a card party at the
grange hall on Tuesday. Mrs.
Marguerite Abbott sponsored
this event which was the first
of a series of special events
planned by the ladies of the
grange to make extra money to
furnish their new kitchen. August has been set aside for work
on the fair booths and September
is our annual rummage sale
month. In October the special
event will be a "Come as you
are" breakfast to be sponsored
by Mrs. La Netta Hyatt and
Mrs, Fay Dunbar.
The Regular Grange meeting
last week~began with pot luck
dinner at 6;30 p.m, After dinner
lecturer Mary Ellen Wallace
presented Dick Wagner who
whowed beautiful slides of the
area and gave a very informative and interesting lecture on
fish and game in Nevada County.
New members Frank and Bessie
Holt were given the Grange obligation by Master Clara Deardorf.

Everette Burkhard of Rough
and Ready isa splendid musician
as he proved to the crowd at
Secession Days when he and
four of his friends stopped by
to-do their bit for-our-celebration. Bill Saunders on rhythm
guitar, Carroll Kilgore on drums
and Joe Ansara on bass. with
Everette doing steel guitar and
voice provided some real crowd
pleasing music. Their lovely
soloist Louise Dunn did a couple
of numbers, too. The group all
live in Marysville, except Everette, and they were on their way
to their regular weekend club
date there.
