Camptonville News Steve Mic CAMPTONVILLE, June 30. — Mr. and Mrs. Gail Russel of San Diego were visitors here Wednesday. Joseph Frankovich is able to be about town again after having been confined to his home with a flu attack for the past two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Smith of Lansing, Michigan, were in town on a brief visit Wednesday. Mrs. Maggis Jordan of Hollywood is here for a visit with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Ulrey at Depot Hill. John Hahn of Sierra Madre was in town Tuesday. He is a brother of Alan Hahn, a real estate man in Rough & Ready. Mr. and Mrs. William Wallace and son Todd of Lakehead, Shasta County, were here over the weekend with relatives. William Richardson, a United States Marine recently doing service in the Orient, has returned to duty after spending a month with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Richardson of this place. Lucille and Debbie Johnson of Hamilton, Ohio, spent a couple of days visiting here. Mr. and Mrs. Warren L. Jackson made a trip to San Francisco last weekend to attend a wedding. a visitor here this past week. He was accompanied by Charles M. Chino Haines, also of Redding and formerly of McCloud where he spent many years with the McCloud Railroad. He has collaborated with another author in a book about the same. Al Melbye of Puyallup, Washington, was in town on a brief visit. i Dr. Samuel John Swartz of Palo. Alto was in town for a couple of days with his friend Skip Schaeffer. He recently received his Doctor of Philsosophy Degree in Music from Stanford University; he will leave shortly for Europe taking a group of thirty music students from the University with him. They will engage in special studies there. Girl Scout News Senior -Troop 612 will holda. court of awards at 7 p.m. Monday at the Schuckert home on. Highway 20. A potluck dinner will be held before the awards are presented. All girls from the troop and their parents are invited. The trip to Los Angeles has been canceled because not guitar for flea market The Country Flea Market will be held July 7 at Lions Lake picnic grounds with Steve Micoleau_on guitar to provide the feature for the month. Musicians are urged to join Steve and hold a musical session to entertain the visitors. Hours of the market are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Proceeds are divided between the Nevada County Council for Retarded Children and the Nevada County Community Workshop. The workshop provides jobs and rehabilitation for handicappe adults. = The council maintains a booth at the flea market and donated items are needed. RESOLUTION NO. 942 N.S. RESOLUTION FIXING TIME AND PLACE FOR HEARING PROTESTS TO THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF THE TERRITORY HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED TO THE CITY OF GRASS VALLEY, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AND DESIGNATING SAID TERRITORY AS “GRASS VALLEY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 37.” WHEREAS, the City council of the City of Grass Valley, did, on the 21st day of May, 1973, receive a written petition asking that certain new territory described in said petition be annexed to the City of Grass Valley; and WHEREAS, said territory so,proposed to be annexed to said City of Grass Valley is situate in the County of Nevada, State of California, and is contiguous to said City of Grass Valley, and said petition contains a description of said territory in words and figures as hereinafter described; and WHEREAS, said petition is signed by the owners of more than one-fourth of the area of the land in said territory and representing more than one-fourth of the assessed value of such territory according to the last preceding equalized assessment roll of the County of Nevada; and WHEREAS, said territory so proposed to be annexed to said City of Grass Valley does not form part of any municipal corporation and it appears that said territory is uninhabited within the-meaning of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939, as amended; and WHEREAS, the Local Agency Formation Commission has heretofore approved the annexation of said territory to the City of Grass Valley in accordance with the provisions of Section 35002 of the Government Code. NEW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRASS VALLEY: 1. That notice be and the same is hereby given that Tuesday, the. 24th day of July, 1973, at 8 o’clock P.M. of said day at the City Council Chambers, City Hall Building, in the City of Grass Valley, County of Nevada, State of California, are hereby fixed as the time and place when and where the city council will hear written protests against the annexation made by any person owning real property within the territory so proposed to be annexed and hereinafter described. The protest shall state the name of the owner of the property affected and the street address or other description of the property sufficient to be identified on the last equalized assessment roll. 2. That the territory hereinabove referred to and proposed to be annexed to the City of Grass Valley shall be, and the same is,’ hereby designated as ‘’GRASS VALLEY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 37,” and is particularly described in Exhibit ‘‘A;; attached hereto and made part hereof. 3. That the city clerk be and he is hereby directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be published at least twice, but not offener than once a week, in The Union, a newspaper of general circulation published in said City of Grass Valley, and also in the Nevada County Nugget, a newspaper of general circulation published outside of said city of Grass Valley, but in said County of Nevada in which is located the territofy so proposed to be annexed, and said pubtications to be completed at least twenty (20) days prior to the date hereinabove. set for the hearing of protests. 4. That the city clerk be, and he is hereby directed, in addition to causing the publication of this resolution as set forth in the preceding paragraph, to also cause written notice of the said proposed annexation to be mailed to each person to whom land within the territory so proposed to be annexed, is assessed in the last equalized assessment roll of the: County of Nevada, af the address shown on said assessment roll or as known to said city clerk, and to any person who has filed his name and address and the designation of any lands in which he has any interest, either local or equitable, with said city clerk. Said city clerk is also directed to mail a similar notice to the Board of Supervisors of the County of Nevada. Mrs. Carolyn Crane works with the children in pottery every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 to 12:30. Mr. Pete Brennan conducts a horsemanship class each Tuesday and Thursday from 9 to 12 at the rodeo grounds in Penn Valley. All children in the school district are encouraged to attend. There is no charge for attendance. Health department still open at NGH . Although Nevada General Hospital has closed, health officer Bob H. Roberts reminds residents that the services offered by the health department are still available. The health department is located at the hospital but is a separate department and is not affected by the closure. All activities, services and clinics will continue as usual and Dr. Roberts invites the public to take advantage of the variety offered through his department.
