A thing worth doing is worth doing well. A thing worth advertising is —-worth—advertising . well. The enterprising advertiser proves that he understands how to buy, becatse in adve:tising he knows how to sell. People who advertise only once in three months forget that most folks cannot remember anything longer than about seven days. A constant dropping will wear arock. Keep dropping your advertisement on the public and they-will soon melt under it like rock salt. * Qijtting advertising times. is like tearing out a dam “because the water is low. The Congregational Beneficent which was held at the residence succes@. . The programme was beautifully rendered. The supper was of the icest kind. All, both oid and young, acknowledged It to be the grandest time they: have had for a whole year, And it was generally conceded, even by the ladies, that Mrs. Locklin exceeds any one in‘ Nevada City in her ability to entertain. Enterprising people are beginning to learn the value of advertising the year round. The _persistency of those who are not intimidated by the cry of ‘‘dull times,’’ but keep their names ever vefore the public, will -surely place them on the right side in the end. A man’s sign offers a mute invitation to those only who pass his place’ of business; his circular can only reach those to whom personil attention is given; but his announcement in a newspaper goes into the highways and byways, finding customers and compelling them to consider his.arguments. ee Excursion to Colfax.
