C2July 8, 1965.,,Nevada County Nugget.. NEVADA CITY reverberated-this*week with a loud and steady hammering as work continued to drive down steel girders along the freeway route next to High Street. County Tax Assessment Increased Nine Percent Nevada County Supervisors. Tuesday received and accepted the 1965-66 assessment roll of $42,741.59. Thecounty's assessed valuation is up $3,545,760 or 9.05 per cent over last year. The board accepted the preliminary roll and ordered it turned over to the clerk. The secured roll total is $39, 215,490 and the unsecured roll $3,526,100. The assessment rolls in the cities show $5,865,070 on the secured roll for Grass Valley and $526,000 on the unsecured roll for a total of $6,391,070. Nevada City has Witnesses To Meet In Sacramento Approximately 50 of Jehovah's Witnesses from Nevada City are departing this week for a special District meeting July 8-11 at the State Fairgrounds in Sacramento, The convention will carsy the theme "Word of Truth" and is to be sponsored by the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society of New York, a total of $2,712,580 on the securedroll and $212,530 on the unsecured roll, The supervisors sat Tuesday for the first time this budget session as a board of equalization. Shortly after the board went into a 20 minute’ executive session, Cliff Dancer of the Bowman area appeared before the board to request that the county repair hisroad, He said the county had damaged the road and he had been asking to have it fixed for
two years, Dancer warned that unless he obtained results he would have it repaired and take the matter to court to obtain payment.» Supervisor Lou Hartman was named to check on the matter with public works director Jack Meade and report back at the next meeting. The supervisors will hold a regular business meeting on July 15.
