George is recovering nicely thanks to four days at the
vets and the skill of his mistress Mrs. T. B. (Marie) Broadus,
’ George is a little dog belonging to the’ Broadus family. He
attacked a rattler several weeks ago and of course the rattler
struck back, George stood his ground however and to keep
him from getting hit again Marie had to get her trusty pistol
and let the old snake have it right between the eyes. Can't
imagine Marie with a pistol, She is more the Magnolia BlosSom type and should be holding a dainty china teacup.

Mrs, William (Clara) Bursill is undergoing extensive tests
to try to find out how to get her back to her normal exhuberant
self and into community activities again. Could her problem
have anything to do with the fact that she is to be a grandmother again soon, I wonder. Mr, and Mrs, Robert (Penny)
Brooker are anticipating a blessed event in the spring. This
will be number one for the Brookers but it seems to me its
number 8 for the Bursills.

It was. wonderful that Rough and Ready could provide a
nice place to invite the Historical Society Tour of Trailer
visitors from the fairgrounds to stop last Saturday. Some
25 to 30 cars and 50 some guests had cold lemonade and home
made cookies, provided by the Rough and Ready Chamber,
while they rested at. the Grange Hall and listened to Brig.
Gen Dreyer tell the story of the old Bridgeport Bridge. Things
to see and do in Rough and Ready and some tidbits of its history were related by historical society representative Mrs.
Hugh (Fay) Dunbar. The ladies of the Chamber wore pioneer
