explain credit cards
Residents here who have been
‘asked to use bank credit cards
for their non-cash purchase:
may obtain such cards without
cost and use them with little
or no extra payment, it was
stated today by Willard Rose,
George Steinmeyer, and Harold
Nye, Golden Empire Bank of
America managers. They emphasized three major policies
in connection with the use of
their bank's credit card:
_ First, they pointed out, there
is no charge for being issued
a BankAmericard. The resident
need merely fill out a credit
application and if approved, the
card will be issued without cost
to the cardholder.
Second, a BankAmericard
holder does not have to do his
other banking business with Bank
of America, they said. The
fact that he may deal with another bank will have no ef’ 2.
on his eligibility for a card.
Third, they said, there is

ROCKLIN —A reminder that
Friday, June 13 is the final
date that persons can rgister
by mail for the Sierra College
summer sessions. ‘Counseling
and in-person registration will
be possible on June 20 and 23,"
he stated, "but late registration does not guarantee that all
courses will be open." Some of
the English classes and all
speech classes are already
filled,
In addition to regular day and
evening classes held on the
Rocklin campus, a session will
also be held at Lake Tahoe at
the King's Beach Elementary
School. The regular summer
session will begin on Monday,
June 23 and last for six weeks
through Friday, Aug. 1. The field
school of biology is a special
four week session with one week
spent at the ocean, two on campus, and one in the mountains,
A $55 fee is charged for this
course to pay for transportation
and food while off campus.
Fees are not charged for other
courses being offered to California residents. Only out-ofstate registrants are charged
a $13 per unit charge in accordance with state law. Textbooks and other supplies, however, must be purchased by all

Americard purchases if they
are paid in full within 25 days
of billing. This policy, they
said, gives the customer from
one to two months of free credit,
depending on when the purchase
was made and the monthly billing was issued. i
If the customer chooses not
to pay his bill in full each
month, they explained, he is
charged 1-1/2 per cent of each
previous month's unpaid balance.
In addition, they said, there
are numerous other advantages
to having the card, including
its acceptability outside this
area and in many parts of the
world,
"BankAmericard is now honored in 45 states and many
foreign areas, including Mexico,
Japan, Great Britain and parts
of Canada," the managers said.
"You can go to all of these
places and have the same automatic credit that you do here."
Locally, they said, a person
can hold one bank credit card
and be able to charge in any
store that honors it, rather than
opening many separate charge
accounts,

Bizz’ Reports
By CONGRESSMAN "BIZZ"
JOHNSON
Exclusive of the United States
Forest Service, the U.S. Department of Agriculture programs
in the 20 counties of the Second
Congressional District amount
to about $6 million annually.
The scope of these range from
research efforts to the agricultural extension service, from
soil conservation to school lunch
assistance,
One of the major pieces of
legislation to receive consideration by the House of Representatives in the past week was
the agricultural appropriations
bill. Although the agricultural
stabilization programs funded
in this legislation receive the
most attention, the Department's
efforts in other fields are important to the people of the Second District. Here are some of
the things which will be accomplished through the funds which
received House of Representatives approval:
Meat and poultry inspection
programs will be expanded.
A more effective job will be
done in the enforcement of the
Insecticide, Fungicide and
Rodentcide Act, The General
Accounting Office has criticized
the Agriculture Department for
not following through adequately
in this area.
Agricultural research will be
expanded, including a special
research effort on avian
leukosis, a poultry disease.
Hunger and malnutrition efforts under the food stamp,
child nutrition and food distribution programs will be broadIn approving this bill, the
House of sentatives rejected a proposal made by the
new administration to eliminate
cost-sharing programs authorized under the Agricultural Con_ servation programs. The full
Rural Electrification Adminiselectric loans and $123 million
for telephone loans was voted.
