BRONZE BIRD..This magnificently simple bronze birdthe work
of Hans Grag, Nevada City, shortly willbe displayed at Gump's
in San Francisco. It was a hit at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Everhart.
ROYAL HAWAIIAN ..This sterling silver tea service was formerly owned by the late Einee Ward cousin of Queen Liliuokalani
of Hawaii. It was bequeathed to Mary and Al Wallis by Miss
Gertrude Goyne. It was part of the Hawaiian motif at the Ridge
Road home of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hughes.

is how this arraingment was titled. Invented by local artists
David Osborn and Charles Woods it was one of the high spots
fs of a recent Ridge Road GardenClub house tour. The display

LEGAL NOTICE
Regular Adjourned Meeting
June 8th, 1961

The meeting was called to
order at 10:00 o'clock A.M,
by the Chairman of the Board
and the following Board
members were noted as present: Gene M. Ricker, W. W.
Bishop, Neil R. Hennessy,
Guy N. Robinson and Henry
G, Loehr, Chairman.
The minutes of the meeting of June 1st, 1961 were
read to the Board by the
Clerk. and the motion was
made by Supervisor Bishop ,
seconded by Supervisor Ricker and passed unanimously
approving the minutes as
read,
Mr. Leon Sanford, representing the Southern Pacific
Land Company appeared befor the Board and requested
that the Southern Pacific
Railroad Company be placed
on the agenda for June 15,
1961. The Chairrhan stated
that they would be placed on
the agenda pursuant to their
request.
The Airport Fueling Station lease by Standard Oil
Company was presented to
the Board by Mr. Cassettari .
Supervisor Loehr, being a
distributor of Standard Oil
Company products, disqualified himself and excused
himself from further attendance at the Board meeting.
Supervisor W.W. Bishop took
over as Vice Chairman of the
Board,
The lease was explained
to the Board by Mr. Cassettari and he presented the
Board with proposed Resolution No, 61-29, authorizing
the County to execute the
lease. A motion was made
by Supervisor Hennessy seconded by Supervisor Ricker,
to adopt Resolution No. 6129. Upon a roll call ballot,
the following vote was recorded:

The Clerk was directed to
notify Mr. Loehr that the
lease was consumated and he

The County Auditor requested that the sum of
$1,007.90 be transferred
from Budget Code 630 to
Budget Code 603; the sum of
$1,096.73 from Budget Code
630 to Budget Code 605; the
sum of $520.48 from Budget
Code 604 to Budget Code

motion made by Supervisor

A motion was made by
Supervisor Bishop, seconded
by Supervisor Robinson, directing the Clerk to issue a
minute order to Mr. Clare
Hughes, County Purchasing
Agent, authorizing him to
issue a Purchase Order for the
purchase of Real Property by
the ‘County Board of Supervisors not to exceed the sum
of $20,000.00. Upon a roll
call ballot, the following
vote was recorded:

County Code 525, County
Garbage Dump, was presented tothe Board by the Auditor and after discussion, a
motion was made by Supervisor Robinson, seconded by
Supervisor Bishop, to adopt

Garbage Dump, in the aarollcallballot, the following vote was recorded:

The Auditor presented
Budget Code 535, County
Jails, tothe Board and a motion was made by Supervisor
Bishop, seconded by Supervisor Ricker, to adopt Budget
Code 535 in the amount of
$19,300.00. Upon a roll call
ballot, a unanimous vote was
recorded.
The Auditor then presented the Board with Budget
Code 520, Trial Juries and
Court Appointed Attorneys,
Board room. A discussion ensued on the need for additional personnel in the Sheriff's department and a motion was made by Supervisor
Bishop, seconded by Supervisor Ricker, to adopt Budget
Code 531 in the amount of
$113,152.00. Upon a roll
call ballot, the following
vote was recorded:

The motion was defeated.
A motion was made by
Supervisor Hennessy, seconded by Supervisor Robinson, to adopt Budget Code
531, County Sheriff, in the
amount of $108,412.00.

adjourn for lunch, to reconvene at 1:30 P.M,
AFTERNOON SESSION
The Board reconvened at
1:30 P.M, and it was noted
that all members of the Board
were present,
Budget Code 619, County
Building Committee, was
presented tothe Board by the
Auditor and a motion was
made by Supervisor Ricker,
seconded by Supervisor Hennessy, to adopt Budget Code
619, in the amount of
$1, 855.00. Upon a roll call
ballot, a unanimous vote was
recorded,
Budget Code 613, County
Airport, was presented to the
Board by the Auditor and a
a motion was made by Supervisor Hennessy, seconded
bySupervisor Bishop, to adopt
Budget Code 613, in the amount of $11,600.00. Upon
aroll call ballot the following vote was recorded:

Mr, Weeks, Assistant Director, was present in the audience, After a discussion with
Mr. Weeks, a motion was
made by Supervisor Bishop,

Board of Trade, was presented tothe Board by the Auditor and a motion was made
by Supervisor Hennessy, seconded by Supervisor Ricker,

unanimous vote was recorded,
Budget Code 601, Juvenile Detention Hall, was presented to the Board by the
Auditor and a motion was
made by Supervisor Robinson, seconded by Supervisor
Bishop, to adopt Budget Code
601, inthe amount of
$11, 996.00, Upon aroll call
ballot, a unanimous vote was
recorded,
The Auditor then presented the Board with Budget
Code 630, Unappropriated
Reserves, and Budget Code
631, Accumulative Capital
Outlay Fund, and a motion
was made by Supervisor Bishop, seconded by Supervisor
Hennessy, to adopt Budget
Code 630 in the amount of
$100,000.00, and Budget
Code 631 in the amount of
$150,000.00. Upon a roll
call ballot, a unanimous vote
was recorded,

County Probation Officer,
appeared before the Board
and entered into a discussion
on Budget Code 601, Juvenile
Detention Hall. After stating
the reasons why he felt it
necessary to install a cooling system in the Juvenile
Hall, the Chairman stated

recorded.
Mr. Robert K, Graham,
County Road Commissioner,
appeared before the Board
and presented the Board with
proposed ordinance No, 251,
(An Ordinance establishing
Speed Limits on certain
County roads) and a motion
was made by Supervisor Robinson, seconded by Supervisor Bishop, to adopt Ordinance
No. 251. Upon a roll call
ballot, a unanimous vote was
recorded,
Ordinance No, 251 entered in Official Book of ordinances, Vol, 1, page 38,
A letter was read to the
Board by the Clerk, from the
Division of Highways requesting the Board to reconsider right-of-way widths on
frontage roads on the Grass
Valley Nevada City Freeway
and a map showing the location of those roads was presented by the Road Commissioner. After a discussion,
the matter was deferred until
June 15th, 1961.
There being no further business to come before the
Board atthis time, a motion
was made, duly seconded,
and passed unanimously, to
adjourn, to meet again on
June 15th, 1961 at 10:00
o'clock A.M. thereof,
and a motion was made by
Supervisor Bishop, seconded
by Supervisor Ricker to adopt
Budget Code 520, in the amount of $8,000.00Upon a
rollcall ballot, a unanimous
vote was recorded.
Budget Code 542, Public
Defender, was presented to
the Board by the Auditor and
the motion was made by Supervisor Ricker, seconded by
Supervisor Bishop, to adopt
Budget Code 542, in the amount of $7,000.00. Upon
a roll ca ballot, a unanimous vote was recorded,

Disaster Office, was presented to the Board by the Audi-]
tor and action on said Budget was deferred until Mr.
