2 Students given awards and scholarships Dozens of graduating seniors from Nevada Union High School received awards or scholarships as well as their diplomas on their last day as high school students. Award assemblies were held on the last day of school with the presentations made before the 337 members of the class. of 1969. Trophy winners for Bank of America awards went to Robert Moore for vocational arts, Catherine Guinn for fine arts, Jeffery Barnickol for science and mathematics and Diane Bartsch for liberal arts. The Bank of America certificate winners were: Peggy Lee Brooksby for mathematics, Earlene M. Erickson for laboratory science, Wendy George for music, Jan Engstrom for art, Katherine Kingston for English, Michael P. Lee for social science, Carol Miller for foreign languages, Debra Bennallack for business, Yvonne Johnson for home economics, John Fraser for agriculture and JohnF. Padgett for trades and industrial arts. Robert Moore, Richard Kraushaar, Maureen P. McGrath and Dennis M. Van Meter won state scholarships and Diane Bartsch and Carl E. Miller were awarded honors at entrance. The Daughters of the Ameri-can Revolution good citizenship award ‘Went ‘to Wendy George and national choral award to Nan Rayburn and Tim Browning. Chopin piano award to Catherine Guinn; John Souza award to Jerry Lloyd; youth citizenship award by the Soroptimist Club of Grass Valley to Jeffery Barnickol; and the Bausch-Lomb ‘Science award to Jeffery Barnickol. Jamie Emerson and Mike Lee won the American Legion awards. (Photo by Barbara Snow) Banner Lava Cap road zoning in agreement Agreement seemed to be general on rezoning an unclassified area on Banner Lava Cap Road to single-family dwellings but there was less agreement on the density of the area, Property owners requested the zoning with each home limited to 40,000 square feet. The commission also will recommend to the Board of Supervisors that a variance for a 10 ley, was approved by the commission. Public hearings will be held July 14 and in Truckee July 18 to consider rezoning Donner Lake Northern from commercial to single family dwellings, The July 14 hearing will be at the court house. A public hearing to amend the Truckee Tahoe Airport zoning was set for July 18 at Truckee. Resolutions of intention to hold the hearings were approved at Monday's meeting.
